There’s so many better places to eat Mexican in Omaha. This place is a dump.
Today, I called in an order to go, ordering off their online menu. I asked for the premium choose 4 combo and asked for all 4 items to be grilled chicken tacos. I said it twice, grilled chicken, and the gal on the phone repeated it to me before asking what kind of shell I wanted. I went in to pick it up and the price seemed unusually low so I checked the food right there and it was shredded chicken tacos. Not what I’d asked for. I brought it to the managers attention and she proceeded to treat me like I was the one who ordered wrong. She said I needed to specify grilled chicken when I called. I did. Twice. And I told her as much. She said all the lady heard was me saying premium and asked what I meant by that. Lady, that’s how your menu is laid out online! The shredded chicken tacos are on the regular combo menu. So even if you *think* I didn’t specify, which I did, why would I order a less expensive item from the more expensive combo choice? Critical thinking tells you I wouldn’t. They ended up fixing it and I showed the manager where on their website menu, it calls is the Combo 4 Premium (because what are you asking me what I mean by Premium when I’m literally ordering off your menu?). The manager again proceeded to tell me I needed to specify it because Premium refers to anything on their grill. Yah, like GRILLED chicken tacos, right!?
I ordered from there yesterday, too. Ordered the same thing, the choose 4 premium combo, 2 grilled chicken tacos and 2 rice. Was told 10 minutes, I showed up 13 minutes, they’d made a fish taco and a chicken taco and had to remake them. Sat there fore and other 15 minutes waiting for my food. Ok, but still inconvenient when I needed to get back to work, but mistakes happen. Except now that makes twice in a row.
Went for dinner two weeks ago. They say us at a dirty table. Had to ask the server to wipe it down, which was a struggle with the language barrier, but eventually he got it and wiped the table down. He was very nice but did forget the side dishes (guac, sour cream, lettuce, pico) that came with our entrees. We let it slide considering how asking to wipe the table went. But that’s now 3x in a row that service hasn’t been great.
We used to go to the 108th and Male location all the time until we moved down the street from this location. There’s a huge difference in the service, starting with the manager. 108th and Maple manager is very nice and welcoming and remembers her frequent fliers. If we decide to eat La Mesa again, I think we’ll travel the extra distance for better service.
And by the way, if you want to tell your customers they ordered wrong (especially when you weren’t the one who took the call), maybe start recording the call so you don’t look like a fool.
