I like the Zoltar machine… but it is probably the only reason that we would come back.

Before today, the last time I was here was about five years ago and I remember the food being decent and well-priced.
That memory did not align with the experience we had today.

We came for lunchtime and ordered the onion rings, tenderloin, and Rachel without cheese. The onion rings came out first and we were a surprised by how few you got for $9. They were thick and the breading was similar to that of a corn dog, kind of sweet. Everyone has different preferences for their onion rings though, and I wouldn’t rate poorly just because of that. We asked for popcorn that never came, the tenderloin was below average for Iowa standards and the Rachel we got came with cheese despite our request. Our server didn’t check on us for about twenty minutes after someone else brought the food out, was nowhere near to be flagged down despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t that busy. At the point where a different server offered to grab our check, it wasn’t worth bringing up. We were ready to leave.

Overall, the food and the poor service outweigh the positive atmospheric elements. Next time we will stick with Naso’s.

Didn’t get pictures of the food. It was good, pretty average. The mugs are frosty and the popcorn is fresh popped and free.

We had a nice lunch with a group of 6 people. Not busy at all on a Wednesday afternoon.

Our server was very attentive, answered our questions, and checked on us frequently. She accurately took our order.

Portions were accurate and the food was good.

My family and I have gone here many times throughout the years. I usually order the 1/4 pound cheeseburger with fries or the breaded shrimp, both of which have great flavor. I would love to try more of their menu, which includes many options to choose from. They have the best corn nuggets! We will be back soon.

My recent visit to Cedar Rapids took me to the Starlite Room for lunch – my husband grew up in Cedar Rapids and has fond memories of the food. I ordered the pork tenderloin after hearing so much about the famous traditional Iowa version that usually doesn’t hit the mark in Wisconsin and was not disappointed. It’s freshly cut meat, hand breaded and it was really good. I didn’t expect to like it so much and was also surprised it was served on a paper wrapper instead of a plate but that only added to the uniqueness, charm, and casual atmosphere of the place. We also ordered the breaded mushrooms served with a side of ranch dressing to share which was a stellar choice. The service was top notch, the bathrooms were really clean and it also had several flatscreens around the place with sporting events. If you want solid food, good service in a no fuss casual environment, this is your place to get some good grub. The next time I return, I will definitely order one of their super cheeseburgers.

The outdoor seating area is an added bonus for sitting outside in the summer.

I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon around 12 30. I sat at the bar. The place was busy but not overly crowded. I ordered a corona premier and Philly cheese steak sandwich with cottage cheese. The bartender was nice and she easily recommended a few things when asked. I decided to go with the Philly. The beer was fine and the line was large and juicy, not dried out and old like what I have been getting a lot of lately. The cottage cheese was standard cottage cheese. It was good, not clotted or dried out. The Philly was very good with tons of flavor and juicy. When it came, it didn’t look like it had much meat on it but had a goodly amount, though it would have been nice with a bit more as I did have a couple of bites with very little meat. However very yummy and the peppers and onions were sauted nicely. The only thing I wish is that they had toasted the bun, little butter and in the fridge for a couple of minutes would have elevated this sandwich to the best level. I would still order it, just make sure I would to ask for toasted bun. The cost was very good for the food and drink, being right around $15 before taxes and fees. I would definitely recommend going here for food as very good with very reasonable prices and very nice people.

I loved the outdoor seating, the view was DQ and a parking:(…). But with my life being work and the hotel I was still so happy to be outside. I ordered cod, chili, fries and a drink. My roommate ordered one burger. It came to about $35… $50 w/tip. The chilli was decent and the drink was strong. The cod pieces or nuggets as they called them where pretty gross and the fries tasted like and had the texture of restaurant fries you take home on left over and reheat. The staff was welcoming and friendly, I gave them a $15 tip. Our food was delivered promptly. Overall it wasn’t too bad but the food was not worth any money. Wished I had just sucked it up and waited in line at DQ….
A little while later… I just got done reading through some of the reviews. I travel for work and was looking for a local bar with good food and the reviews were mostly 4 and 5 stars. I am confused. The staff was great. Loved the outside seating but the quality of the food was bad. It sucks to drop $50 and get fried that tasted like day olds and the fish was like Sysco frozen foods.

This is one of those places you go when you want some good food. It’s nothing fancy so don’t expect that sort of ambiance. But it’s like a local hidden gem the locals know about and might share with you if you are lucky. You walk in and someone says welcome and tells you to seat yourself where ever a table is open. Don’t miss the opportunity of Zoltar to give you your fortune!! The servers are quick and will bring you a bowl of free popcorn and take your drink order. We started with one of our favorites, the broccoli cheddar bites. Honestly any of the appetizers are amazing. Is it fried food, yes, but this place does it well!! I ordered a 1/4 cheeseburger, you choose your toppings and they make to order. The flavor was so amazing, like when you crave a burger, this will certainly hit the spot! Hubby ordered the Philly cheesesteak and said it was very flavorful, just as he remembered. Again, this is nothing fancy, but it’s great bar type food with great flavor and it’s always consistent! Menu has a wide variety of items. The Tenderloin Sandwich is also top notch!! It’s a hidden gem! Make it a must when in town!

I have always loved this place, as their food is amazing. Tonight, my son and I decided to order delivery. Well when we got the delivery, my son’s food was unfortunately not delivered along with mine. I called and asked about it, preparing to go pick up his food, when the manager hopped on and not only said he would make my son’s order, but that he would also deliver it himself. He was so kind! And when he got here, he gave us coupons to go the extra mile. Amazing customer service and as always, amazing food!

Okay, don’t pass on this place just because of the way the outside looks. It is an older place and shows it’s age.

You need to be hungry if you’re going here. Really good sized portions and the staff are attentive.

We ordered drinks, and corn poppers as an appetizer. The corn poppers were a little sweet, but very good.

Main dishes were the Ruben, and Patty melt. Each item was good, served hot and prepared as asked.

Pattymelt came with coleslaw, it’s a larger cut of veggies and liquidity, but very good. (On par with that chicken place)

Onion rings were light and very good.
French Fries were thicker crinkle cut style, very good overall.

Pool table, bar and good food.
