Great place that has been around since the late 1970’s. Soups are homemade, dinners great, and breakfast fare is solid. Had the prime rib special ($25)on Saturday night with mashed potatoes, and with some of the best matza ball soup around. We go here often and always have a great meal. The food is always good and the service is typically great. Today was an exception…our server was not friendly at all and seemed to be in a surly mood. It was my mother’s birthday and she barely made an effort to be pleasant. Thankfully this is not the norm and when we return we will purposely ask for a different server if she is there.

First of all I loved the old school style they have here at Kappys. It’s cozy and filled with great people. For example, my server Ceaser was absolutely phenomenal. He was attentive towards us, made us laugh, and was just an overall great server. I ordered a beef skillet and it tasted great. My eggs were cooked to perfections and the hashbrowns were done perfectly. All the staff members were nice to me and served me right away.
To sum it all up, I would MOST definitely come back but I’m going to ask for Ceaser again

Kappys is a pretty good place in Morton Grove for breakfast or lunch. I haven’t ordered anything from the dinner menu yet. Although I was a little bit disappointed this time because my hash browns came burnt and I ordered crispy (Shown in photo). The omelette I got was the build your own with three complimentary ingredients to add and there are also add ons for a couple more dollars. I would recommend dine in so that if something isn’t right with your order it can be taken care of at that time. I ordered online for pickup and didn’t know the hash browns were burned badly with black crunchy hard as rock bits. Couldn’t eat the hash browns but the omelette was good.

The food was amazing and so was the service. We came in from Delaware and out of all our travels this may be my favorite breakfast restaurant. I highly reccomend the the loaded hash browns. Daisy was a great server and we did not have to wait on anything. Food came out quick.

Best home booking on the Nortg side of Chicago. Very few good restaurants left that serve great food, quickly and for an affordable price. Experienced Staff both out front and a superb Kitchen Staff that must be Family you can tell the difference. Daily Specials and Giant selection to choose from. This past early August marked the very first time trying out the popular long-standing eatery after leaving Old Orchard Mall. Read enough good reviews and was convinced to give it a try.
I have a tendency to be exploratory after taking the wife & kids to the mall and typically try to find a place that has an all-around menu and not too fancy since our youngest tends to act up at the table.
Kappy’s has that old school diner vibe which I really like and the food overall for the price is worth it. We live in Beach Park which is in northeastern Lake County but do come down this way a few times a year so we’d definitely stop back in if in the area, Kappy’s is a go.
With all around good food (I enjoyed the prime rib), friendly service and a family-friendly environment; this is a local business that I’d gladly support and wish for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).

My husband and I have been here a few times and it has quickly become our favorite spot to grab breakfast and lunch (we haven’t tried dinner yet).
The soups (a cup comes with a sandwich) are hearty and a surprising showstopper – I haven’t had matzo ball soup like this since Jewish delis in Florida.
The sandwiches are amazing (we love the tuna melt and hot honey chicken) but if you go on a Friday, the blackened mahi is a MUST!
But above all, the owner, George, goes above and beyond – it’s easy to see why Kappy’s has been around for so long! The manager (I don’t recall his name) is always so welcoming and funny.
