I’m very particular about Italian food because I come from a country with many immigrants from there who open family restaurants with authentic flavors.

Here in NC it has been very difficult to find something like that, and yet I give myself the opportunity to try places from time to time. Honestly, when you walk in it smells amazing and feels familiar, but it seemed like just a first impression… I have to say our hot antipasto wasn’t bad at all, I really enjoyed it. A simple sauce and a well-executed dish overall. The drinks weren’t pleasant at all, neither my husband’s alcoholic one nor my mocktail. Everything was either very bitter or very acidic with no real flavor. Our pastas were okay. My husband’s veal parmesan was acceptable, but mine only tasted of lemon with no complexity whatsoever, and the pasta was a bit overcooked. They gave me the option of ordering just half a portion, and I mistakenly chose a full plate thinking it would be excellent. The prices might be reasonable for the portions, but if we’re talking about flavor, they’re not worth it at all.

I was hoping to finally find something authentic and well-prepared, but this is a hard pass.

PS: Not exactly a family atmosphere, they have a bar next door which allows entry to people over 16 and our entire dinner was next to a scene of marital infidelity with crying, shouting and everything and none of the staff did anything about it even though there were other families around who surely wanted a quiet dinner like us.

Held my mother’s 85th birthday party in the front private room. Everything was perfect. The staff is great to work with. Our server was absolutely terrific. The food was delicious. I highly recommend hosting an event here.

I had a fantastic experience at Mario’s Italian Restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, cozy, and authentically Italian.
The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces were rich and well-balanced, and the portions were generous. You can really taste the quality in every bite. The garlic knots and tiramisu were definite highlights!
Service was friendly and attentive, making the entire meal even more enjoyable. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot that makes you feel like family.
If you’re craving classic Italian comfort food in Charlotte, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back!

Went to Mario for a church event.
The eggplant was okay. Believe it was frozen. Tasted pretty good had spaghetti accompany it.
I had chicken francise for $18. One piece of chicken no salad. I thought i substituted macaroni with broccoli. But they actually charged me a upcharge the broccoli.
Service was very good. But food was not worth the price. The only other freebee was garlic knots.

Thankfully our A friend made a reservation, because it was Friday night and this place was packed! We were there for the Friday night fish fry. At first our weight was going to be 40 to 60 minutes, but my friends called and said she had made a reservation so we were immediately sat down. Brittany was our server and she did a fantastic job. She had quite a few tables she was running around, but she kept everyone’s orders straight, a smile on her face, and she was just very attentive. We’ve started out with two appetizers, the garlic roll nuts, and the cheese sticks, and they were really good. They came with the tomato sauce for dipping, and they were nice and hot and the garlic rolls were very fresh and warm. When our fish arrived, it was a large plank of cod, deep-fried. We asked for extra crispy and that’s how it showed up. Ithe platter came coleslaw and a side.. We got the french fries and asked for our fries extra crispy and they were made to order. Our food was hot, tasted very good, and there was plenty of it. We did not have to wait long for our food even though there were a lot of people in the restaurant. Definitely would recommend for the fish fry if you’re looking for a place on Friday night.

Disappointed with the Food Quality
Unfortunately, we had a very underwhelming experience. None of the dishes we ordered had any flavor. The bruschetta was especially disappointing—usually a safe appetizer, but here it was just a bowl of chopped tomatoes served with plain bread, lacking any seasoning or presentation. The mahi had a slight flavor but was overshadowed by a burnt taste. The shrimp angel hair pasta was completely bland with no seasoning at all. Definitely expected better.

Was told by my girlfriend how great of a place it is specifically the fettuccine alfredo and so decided to check it out. It was delicious 10/10 will eat here again and highly recommend to anyone considering to chow down here. If you want some good, real, Italian food this is the place.

Pretty good pizza, though it is on the pricier side since it is more of an Italian restaurant, at $4.50 for a one topping slice. They also have implemented the additional 3% fee on all checks, not just if you use a credit card, never a fan of that.

The bar and restaurant are beautiful and they have a great patio, so definitely a great place to come if you want a nicer Italian meal.

I have been coming here for years. This time was so disappointing. I ordered the half order of Chicken piccata and sub the pasta for broccolli. The check came and I was charged 3$ extra without prior notice from the server and then a suplimental fee. When I asked what that was for, the server said it was a fee for food costs so the owner didnt have to raise prices of the menu. I have watched the prices go up over time and the food is not worth the price at all.
