Reviews
The chicken dish was hearty and satisfying, definitely the highlight. The ratatouille was nicely done but portion-wise a little small. The aubergine wasn’t quite to our palate as it was served cold — we felt it would have worked better if it were charred and served warm to bring out more depth and smokiness.
We also had the lemon tiramisu, which was yummy and refreshing, a nice twist on the classic. That said, we personally felt it might have been even better without the olive oil, as it slightly overpowered the brightness of the dessert.
Overall, an enjoyable lunch with comforting flavours, though a few tweaks could have made it stronger.
Took the $35 set.
The appetiser was eggplant with feta cheese, tomato sauce and pine nuts. Very balanced flavour and indeed very appetising.
The mains was chicken. Quite generous portion, drumstick and breast area. The potato mash was the best component. Very smooth and rich. The chicken breast was a bit dry. But had interestingly chicken rice type of chilli so that helped with the dryness. The pickles were refreshing. The salad vege was very fresh and crisp. But the dressing was a bit too sharp / acidic.
The dessert portion was pretty small. The small bottle had a narrow opening, a little bit difficult to scoop it out. The flavour wise is good. Very smooth, rich and satisfying, and had an orange gel layer that helps balance it out.
Recommend this place!
We ordered a full roast chicken, the kitchen made a mistake and we were served a half portion. Sam, the waiter serving us, follow up by saying the other half chicken is on the way. In the end, we were charged 2x 1/2 chicken instead of a full chicken price. That’s one.
After which, we ordered desserts from them. Desserts selection was limited in the first place but we still did place an order of tiramisu and apple pie which tasted meh~ one of our friends is celebrating her birthday and we were told that cakes are not allowed in this restaurant to our horror. Com’on, it’s ppl’s birthday, you could have made an exception base on the fact that we didn’t know in the first place & also we ordered a bottle of wine from them as well. It’s not like we are not spending enough.
Fine dining portion (look at the tiramisu portion), not fine service, extravagant pricing for mediocre food. No service recovery at all. Will not visit this place again.
The alcohol selection was a highlight: the gin and tonic was excellent, very well balanced and refreshing.
That said, the pricing is on the expensive side, and the portion sizes are relatively small, so it may not feel very filling if you’re very hungry.
Overall, a great spot for good food and impressive drinks, especially if you’re going for the experience rather than value or large portions.
Onion soup was good too but too salty for all 5 of us who tried it. The only problem we had was that it was somehow too noisy in the restaurant we can hardly hear one another. Not sure what can be done about that and I had a migraine due to the noise.
Would probably come back if there are much lesser people. Perhaps the background music can be softer too. Thanks for hosting us!
The ribs, fish, and chicken were noticeably dry and lacked flavour. When we raised this feedback with the manager, the response was simply “ok” before walking away. There was no apology, no effort to understand the issue further, and no attempt to address our concerns until we were settling the bill, at which point a small discount was offered.
I had also noted on the booking platform that we were celebrating a colleague’s birthday. I wasn’t expecting complimentary items, but for an establishment with this reputation, I would have expected at minimum an acknowledgement of the occasion, or a simple check-in on how the team could make the celebration feel more special. There was no mention of it at all.
The food was disappointing, but the lack of hospitality and accountability was even more concerning. Suffice to say, the five of us will not be returning.
Squid was well marinated but a larger portion would be more welcome.
Onion soup was very flavourful and some might say too heavy handed on the salt.
The sourdough bread and unsalted butter dish is a winner. I hope the owners keep it as a main starter.
The mains are the star. The half chicken was superb. It has that home made-“my grandma style” kind of seasoning. Simple, butter, salt and pepper yet full of nostalgia.
Pork ribs was also excellent. Surprisingly the mains did not taste as salty. They are worth coming back a second time on their own.
The chocolate mousse and lemon tiramisu are some of the best dessert I have had for a long time. Tiramisu tasted zesty and clean-perfect after the palate has had a lot of heavy flavour. The mousse was heavier and needs to be shared.
One feedback-the water was only refillable twice. And warm water is $1 more. Owners can review this thank you.
Perhaps this is the only reason I did not give 5 stars for the service-which was prompt and efficient.
