I wish I had tried Red Robin years ago! I first visited this location in Lakewood, CO about a year ago, and I’ve been a fan ever since. I love the bottomless drinks and food deals, and I’ve worked my way through everything from burgers to pizza—haven’t had a single bad meal yet.
The staff is always welcoming, especially during my first visit. I wish I remembered the manager’s name from that day because he was incredibly informative and genuinely kind.
Red Robin has definitely earned a forever customer!
However, we were suprised with the manager. The manger needs to work on his management style, he raised his voice at the hostess right infront of all of us waiting for our to- go orders.
Sadly, the emptiness of the place was reflected by their staff. So few that I did make note how many times one person went to the bar to make all the drinks. Which, of course, restricted the time I can get my food in a timely manner.
Thankfully, the food still came out hot, and still pretty decent. Goes to show you, even at your worst, your specialty will always be a saving grace.
Onion rings were pretty good. I got the A1 burger which I remembered as one of my favorites, it was a sloppy salty mess. Nowhere near as good as it used to be. Wife got chicken tenders (clucks), they were bad stadium quality tendies. She actually said she’s had better tendies at a stadium. I know RR used to actually have really good chicken tenders. The fries have also gone downhill in quality significantly.
Service was friendly enough but nothing special. I feel like there used to be a rule that servers were supposed to greet you and get waters within like 60-90 seconds after seating. It was a good 5 minutes. But it didn’t seem like the servers fault and I don’t care that much. More so seemed like the status quo of giving a bleep has changed. I will note the server was very friendly the 3 times she interacted with us. Now they have tablets on the table so obviously RR is trying to cut costs everywhere (especially food quality). We didn’t even get a check dropped at the table, just paid on the stupid tablet. Server never thanked us for our business and her 20% tip.
Hostess was friendly and said thank you on our way out. She also was very pleasant when seating us. She gets 5* for her job.
Will not be visiting a Red Robin again. Sad this solid chain died with the times. If they’re still publicly traded I will be shorting the stock.
