First time here. Worst chili I have ever had…looked like they added cream or milk to the chili. Tasted horrible….actually had a non-chili flavor. Our waitress wasn’t the friendliest either. Will not return.

Our server was great. Thank you Celeste. Best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had. Need some sausage or bacon in the gravy but it was still good.

Heard a lot of hype about this place. Being new we decided to try it out. We were sat immediately. So yay for that. It was kind of busy. We went for breakfast. Took forever to get our drink order in. Then they forgot one drink. Our Malts were shakes. I ordered coffee. Asked for creamer. I got a coffee cup so full I had to burn my lips to sip it down to add creamer. I finally got my coffee just right and he topped it off. I appreciate tending to coffee drinkers, but this was ridiculous. After about 4 cups of coffee they finally take our order. I get this is a small town and that all the food places are slow, but how is it that tables seated way after us had food and left before we even got our plates? Our food comes and I honestly don’t understand what the hype was. The biscuits and gravy tasted like watered flour, and there wasn’t even enough “gravy” to cover the biscuits. Eggs weren’t cooked to order. I like my whites cooked and yolks runny (over medium). My eggs were so slimy. My toast was burnt. We probably won’t be returning. The lady severs seemed real nice, but we didn’t get a lady sever. Idk first experience wasn’t very good.

Value for the dollar. Generous portions. Good food. The soups can be very good.
Genuine small town independent restaurant with an older vibe. It’s not fine dining, but definitely a couple of steps up from Dennys.
I had the chicken fried steak, and my wife had catfish. I was definitely in the clean plate club. The cornbread there is lovely. It was a small point, but the green beans were very good.
I wish Google reviews had half steps ‐- 4.5 is the right rating here.

The food was really good, service was good. My only gripe is that the menu prices shown on Google reviews are at least 5 years old and about almost 40% cheaper than today’s prices, so don’t expect anything but kids meals to be under $14. Median regular meal price is now $18.99 instead of $13 or$14.

We recently had the pleasure of being in tehachapi for an event we stumbled across the village grill from our own research and then from where we were staying suggested it. I have to say the food was great and the service even exceeded our expectations the best description I can get besides great food and service I felt like we were kind of a little bit in a Hallmark movie we enjoyed tehachapi and we enjoyed The village grill we highly recommend it.

Service = outstanding. Portions/ value = really good. Actual taste of the product is so so… wasn’t particularly fresh but also wasn’t horrible. Miss the ‘red apple barn shed’ that used to be across the st 🙁 this place has a few of its pieces scattered about inside.

I was brought to this place in Tehachapi called Village Grill by my parents. It sits on the Blvd near the Dutch bakery. I ordered the Carnitas skillet with eggs over easy. The first dishes I tried. Come with a side of toast, or biscuits and gravy. The atmosphere is friendly country style old school charm sitting in near the mountains. Service was on point and without haste. Now to the good part… the food!
I was presented on time with the eggs on top cooked to perfection. The dish also had lots of meat that is slow cooked around 12 hours. The top layer was crispy a little burnt, but the inside melts in your mouth. It was accompanied by melted cheese, and soft potato’s with a buttery consistency. It was not greasy. It was cooked on a skillet. I added salt to enhance the flavor. That would be my only complaint. The toast I picked was sourdough. It was toasted and butter perfectly. Once I took a bite, the buttery savory goodness took me back to when I was a kid at my grandma and grandpa’s house having breakfast. I will be coming back to try other foods. Price was average of 17 dollars.
I highly recommend this hidden gem!

DON’T GO!!!!
The only thing good there was Tisha, a server, who was not mine.
I paid $28, for a steak dinner, salad, baked potato, and garlic bread.
The garlic bread and salad were good. The potato was not done, the mixed vegetables were mushy and the steak, which I ordered RARE, (I actually told my server, ‘I want the steak still mooing’), was well done.
My server, NEVER came to ask about the meal.
Took no photos. Phone was barely charges.
I might DO NOT recommend this place.

The waitress/server was very attentive and pleasant and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The coffee was good. I never had to wait to have my cup refilled. I ordered the California omelette and a biscuit. They arrived quickly. The omelet was great. The biscuit was a bit too soft for my liking but maybe others like it that way.
