man upfront (in glasses) was so unfriendly and unwelcoming. i asked what was in the nasi lemak and he showed me a picture (i can see that) but there’s no description whatsoever, he couldn’t care to explain? my husband was asking how long this business has been, he side eye then answered insincerely “19 years” ok small talk is not your thing it’s fine but attitude needs to be in check.
the place was dull and staff just looks so unhappy. it’s kinda sad tbh. it’s like their unhappiness reflects in the way they treat people.
for the food — martabak has super thin layer of beef. dough was severely undercooked. you could definitely made this with a tad bit more oil and increase the heat of the griddle. the curry it came with was super watered down. flavourless.
nasi lemak was not good at all. the “sambal” was simply sliced onions with chili paste. the chicken was 2-3 small dice of chicken BITES. it was an abundant amount of rice for so little sides to pair with.
mee siam does not taste like mee siam. it has the wok hey for sure but flavour was lacking so much.
drinks were good but it’s 1/3 drink 2/3 ice. just a couple of sips, boom your drink is done.
the picture speaks for itself.
to me, this business is so stingy. they really skimp out on stuff for the price you’re paying, it’s not worth it.
+ i’m sorry but this does not represent malaysian cuisine at all. despite me being from a neighbouring country to malaysia, the food and experience IS a misrepresentation of malaysia.
first and last visit.
The service was efficient, and the restaurant was peaceful (I came in just after 8 PM). I’ll come back to try the dessert next time.
When we were ready to order, we sat there while staff stood around playing and doing everything except their jobs. Everything dragged on for no reason and it felt like our time simply did not matter.
To make it worse, the food was mediocre and nowhere near good enough to make up for the awful service. The entire experience felt unprofessional, disorganized, and unwelcoming. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Luckily I was there with someone very familiar with Malaysian food who made the food orders. Everything was so delicious, and they were able to accommodate for vegetarian, including by adding tofu. We got the keuh teow, red curry and fried ice cream. Everything came out quickly and service was great. Love the interior too, looks like a little town!
I came in here with my girlfriend and we were served hot, delicious food. I had the char kueh teow and it can go toe to toe with char kueh teow from a Kuala Lumpur hawker. I hereby certify this joint as a Malaysian!
