Highland Morning – Louisville, KY

Highland Morning is the kind of place you’re proud to take out-of-towners. A family-run restaurant where last night is recalled over mouthwatering pancakes.

Great stop for a late breakfast! We split the Denver scramble and added a waffle. Everything was delicious. Emma was very kind and attentive! Great prices too. Highly recommended

My baja eggs benedict was 90% sour cream, and my husband’s burrito was rolled where the cheese was all at the end. The service was incredibly unfriendly and ticked off that we brought in a stroller

Our third visit at Highland Morning St Matthews today and it never disappoints! They say third times a charm, but it’s been every time. Wanted to drop a 5 star on them the food is great service is amazing. Had Katie as our waitress today, super attentive and sweet!

It’s crazy though that I was literally reading the review posted right before mine and its 100% inaccurate.
My friend and I were seated next to this couple, and they were absolutely disrespectful to the staff.
The restaurant was on wait which is super typical for a Sunday brunch place. The couple and their kid were sat according to their wait time and the hostess moved on to calling the next few people.

As she was seating others the woman approached her demanding to be moved ASAP because she didn’t like her table. The girl tried to explain to her that if she was willing to wait a few more minutes for a different table then she could clean one off for her. This woman wasn’t hearing it, and neither was her partner. Dude literally got up and put his finger to his lips and told the staff member to shut up. How disrespectful then proceeded to cuss at them as he left the building because he was too impatient to wait a few minutes for a different table.
Crazy how people will abuse the power of google review.
It clearly had NOTHING to do with them being Hispanic, some of the staff members are Hispanic, like come on!

Anyhow after writing a book lol Highland Morning is great and you won’t regret the Banana Berry Blast!

They CAN omit disgusting cilantro if you ask… but it would be far better if they just didn’t automatically add cilantro UNLESS requested to add it… 20% of the population cannot stand the disgusting taste of cilantro

Ate here a couple of times in the last ten days for breakfast. The eggs were cooked to order. The potatoes were good. Service is good…everything was hot. The bacon is the scrawniest I have ever seen. The coffee isn’t very good and the grits aren’t very good. One piece of toast. When I eat out, I like to enjoy a good cup of coffee. This isn’t it. For what it is, the price is a bit high.

Parking is horrible. I lucked out today and there was one parking space available in the small lot next door. Don’t know where else I could have parked. 30 minute drive each way, so having to turn around and leave because there is no parking would be very upsetting. Then getting out of the parking lot is truly a hazard. When there is a vehicle parked on the street directly next to the parking lot exit, you cannot see oncoming traffic from the left. At all. It’s very dangerous. Horrible location because of the parking issue.

I would like to like this place, but too many issues. My search continues for a good breakfast diner.

I went to highland morning on the 1st of march the food and service was amazing although I did see a review from the same day I was there and almost everything said was false the people were very rude and impatient even using inappropriate language around everybody. After the incident I had the opportunity to speak with the manager and she was nothing but amazing too us, very kind. Every employee that we got to speak to was very respectful and kind and that situation was handled very well by the employees involved. I’m writing this so you don’t find other reviews misleading about what happens/happened.

Don’t come here if you are Hispanic!
This was the most uncomfortable and disrespectful restaurant experiences we have ever had.

From the moment we walked in, the hostess acted as if she could not understand us, despite the fact that we were speaking clear English. The dismissive tone and body language were obvious.

After being seated, we politely asked if we could move to a different table that was not in the middle of the walkway. There were more than six empty tables available. We were told no, and that if we did not accept that specific table, we would have to put our name back on the waitlist and start over because “they don’t switch tables.” They also said we were not allowed to wait in the restaurant this time, we would have to wait outside or in our car. That explanation made absolutely no sense given the number of empty tables in plain view.

When we decided it was better to leave rather than argue, the situation escalated unnecessarily. Instead of handling it professionally, staff members became hostile and told us to just leave. One waitress even attempted to lift my child out of his chair. That was completely inappropriate and unacceptable.

As a Hispanic family, the way we were treated felt discriminatory and deeply disrespectful. We were made to feel unwelcome from the start.

Management seriously needs to address cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and basic customer service standards. No family should be treated this way for simply asking to move to another open table.

Never coming back and will advise the Hispanic community to stay away from this place.

Best waffle I’ve ever had in my life! Cute little diner atmosphere, great service even on a day the server mentioned they were short-staffed. The dutch apple pie waffle will knock your socks off! My partner got the biscuits & gravy- he has been trying different biscuits & gravy all over town, and he says this is the best, hands down. Will definitely be coming back for more.

I would give zero stars if it allowed me to. Let’s start with the food… The bacon is microwaved ,the eggs come from a carton and they taste like water. the grits were like warm and taste like water as well. The service, I was seated by a sweetheart and got a waitress that clearly didn’t want to be there but kept the fake forced smile so I give her that. However after getting my food and tasting it, leaving EVERYTHING on the plate still, I was told I “can’t take the plate of the ticket just because I didn’t eat it” . She then said that I didn’t say anything was wrong with it… I didn’t want to be rude and say it was the nastiest meal I’ve had at a breakfast place, so I waited until the check came and asked to remove it. Now for the atmosphere…. Very cramped and everytime the waitress went behind me she rubbed her butt against my back. It got to the point my boyfriend and I had to move our table closer to the corner. Overall I was extremely dissatisfied with the entire experience. I will be going back not for food but to introduce my food critic colleague to a new place to write about.
