Our first time here. The food was delicious. I got the Atlantean Alfredo with crab and scallops. It was very good. It definitely needed some salt but that’s it. My husband got the solo stove burger. He said it was delicious. We did get the old bay waffle fries for an appetizer. I wasn’t crazy about them. The staff was very friendly. It was a cozy atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back.

We got stuffed peppers, mac n cheese with hand breaded chicken tenders and cheese in a cradle, which is amazing it’s cheese on half a hoagie bun, and the whole thing is deep fried. Truly the American dream come true! The staff was very friendly. Everything was great. Only spent $40 for 2 people. Ate half of it before I took a picture.

Picked up wings and a stromboli to take home, SO GOOD! Stromboli had so much filling and a very flavorful crust. Wings were crispy but still juicy, and the garbage sauce is to die for! Also reasonably priced for all the food we got. Would never hesitate to order again!

This seems to be the best spot in town to stop for a filling meal after a day of hiking. The burger was a great size and not too greasy, same excellent experience with the waffle fries. I would definitely stop here again to eat if I’m in the area.

Sweet Basil may not grab your attention from the outside — it’s located in a former Pizza Hut building that could really use a fresh coat of paint. But don’t let the exterior fool you. Step inside, and you’ll find a clean, cozy, and charming Italian restaurant with a surprisingly warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The main dining area features exposed brick walls, wood-beam ceilings, and neatly arranged tables, giving it a homey, rustic feel. A row of plants adds a touch of life and freshness to the space, and the setup makes for an intimate dining experience. Just off to the side, there’s a separate full bar area with a relaxed pub-like vibe, flat-screen TVs, and dark wood finishes — perfect if you’re looking to unwind with a drink or watch a game. The thoughtful separation between the bar and dining room keeps the restaurant versatile and appealing to both families and casual diners.

Before the meal, they bring out a complimentary basket of bread — and let me just say, it’s awesome. So fresh and soft, I could have eaten a whole basket of it and been completely satisfied.
We started with the Cheese in the Cradle, which was a pleasant surprise — not your typical mozzarella sticks, but a deep-fried block of mozzarella served on a bed of marinara. It was creamy, stretchy, and very filling — a cheese lover’s dream.
For the main course, I had the lasagna. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was still solid and satisfying. The standout dish, though, was the grilled chicken salad in a bread bowl — a fun twist where the “bowl” is actually a cheesy, baked pizza crust. It felt like a cross between pizza and salad and was bursting with flavor. A unique and very tasty option.
Location:
Sweet Basil is located just off Route 322, not far from Clarion, PA — making it a convenient stop if you’re passing through the area.

Final Thoughts:
If you can look past the tired exterior, Sweet Basil delivers a surprisingly strong dining experience. With great service, a diverse menu, fresh complimentary bread, and a cozy atmosphere, it’s a hidden gem worth checking out. Whether you’re grabbing a drink at the bar or settling in for a hearty Italian meal, this place has something for everyone.

This place has become a family favorite even though it’s an hr away, well worth it! Rylie S was the best, most tentative & friendly server I’ve ever met. The food was amazing we had zero room for dessert unfortunately and we all had to box half of our meals to take home! I highly recommend grilled Cajun chicken salad, pierogi lasagna, chicken Alfredo and the cajun trio.. (don’t forget the huge cheesy bread)…they were all amazing!!! Hats off to the cook for sure!! This was our second time… we will return!!

This little gem. Mmmmmmm. Delicious home made Italian affair. Couple with the most friendly and attentive service. Don’t drive by and bring your appetite! The portions are Italian Mega Mia. I’ll be back for sure.

This restaurant did not disappoint! We didn’t have to wait long to be seated. The menu is pretty big with a lot of selections. The size of the meal compared to the price was incredible! There was enough food for lunch and to take the rest home for dinner. Great place!

My mom and I drove 330 miles from New Jersey to dine at Sweet Basil last week! Actually, we were visiting family in Brookville, and my Aunt and Uncle suggested Sweet Basil for lunch. 🙂 The booth was generous in size and felt cozy as we all snuggled in to look over the menu. Our Server Riley had a great personality and was friendly and attentive. My Uncle chose chicken tenders, and he savored every bite. Mom and I chose personal pizzas – one Veggie and one Margherita. They were both delicious! The crust was crispy on the bottom and softer toward the top, with a great flavor, and the toppings were tasty and fresh! If you live close or are just passing through, you should definitely go to Sweet Basil and Enjoy!

We really enjoyed the Sweet Basil. The only reason I didn’t give it a full five stars is the bread served with the dinner was just average. The salad was fresh and delicious served with the house made balsamic dressing! The lasagna was very good. We also had the fried zucchini which was very good as well. I do recommend you stop to eat. The atmosphere as well as the staff was excellent.
