At our Charleston, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

It’s a shame what Captain D’s has come to… If you remember walking up to the register and asking for a blow pop after finishing your meal with your grandparents, you know how it used to be. Do yourself a favor and hold tight to those memories of it. I went for the first time tonight in probably 12 years — It was like drinking a glass of oil/grease. Food had no flavor… Absolute trash for $13.

Well i waited at the register while the lady running drive through served three customers. Finally the lady walking around passing out tarter sauce came to the front. I thought my order was going to be taken then but she told me to hold on. Then the cook noticed that I was being ignored and was very polite. He actually was the only polite employee at this restaurant. Finally another lady appeared from the back. She took my order and then screamed at me because the credit card machine was not working. After looking at her like she was crazy my order was finally ready. Sadly the food I received looked nothing like the order pictured in the window. Taste was less than standard. Even the condiments were sticky where a package had leaked and nothing was done to clean it. The fries tasted like they were old fries recooked. Fish was ok but no clean tarter sauce packets to eat with it. Hush puppies were cold and soggy. There use to be a time where $10 could purchase an edible good meal. I would like a refund or a meal replacement if anyone in management actually reads this review.

Tried a few times but it’s a consistently bad experience. Staff are polite but there’s always issues with either delays, out of inventory, forgetting the drink etc. Today there was no batter for chicken, a 15 minute wait for the fish to taste terrible.

This restaurant should not be on delivery websites. ALWAYS misses order notes although the website is easy to use for ordering with detailed drop down menus (Uber eats and Doordash). No condiments, no tarter, no cocktail sauce, no malt vinegar. Oh, and 10 shrimp instead of 15 as specified and ordered. I gave them more than 3 chance a. Never returning or recommending

I happen to love Captain D’s but don’t live close to one. Whatever I’m in West Ashley I always go to this particular store. It struggles a little with time management but the food is usually pretty good and the last time I went it was awesome. But took a very long time to get to me.
