My Ohana & I love coming here! The food is always great, and the hospitality is impeccable. I’m a big tipper and sushi Cortaro will always earn it!
I have a shellfish allergy that’s anaphylactic (I know, I know. Shellfish allergy going to a sushi restaurant ) but the owner Derek always accommodates and makes sure there’s no cross contamination. My children 6yF and 7yM also enjoy coming here. While my son is on the spectrum, and struggles with ARFID, I’m so pleased that Sushi Cortaro has options for him to eat, and even try! We first indulge with our eyes, and presentation is BEAUTIFUL! Whether you come for a nice date or a family outting, SUSHI CORTARO makes the moment memorable. Coming from Hawaii with fresh fish, and struggling to find decent quality for your buck, here in the mainland, specifically Tucson, sushi Cortaro is the spot. Our whole boat and meal was under 100$ for 4 people!
The atmosphere is calmer in the afternoons, but dinners are also nice, and a little more lively with more customers. I can go on and on about this place because I love it so much, but you have your own opinions and I urge you to drop by and try something. They have daily deals for lunch, with different rolls on sale for those that are new to sushi and want to attempt a different flavor or texture without the full price of a roll. Never disappointed! 11/10 fs

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pure Artistry in Every Bite

There are a few things in life I truly cherish — kind people, masters of their craft, and food that feels like an experience. This sushi haven embodies all of it. Every piece that graces the plate is a masterpiece — a perfect harmony of flavor, texture, and presentation. You can feel the passion, precision, and years of dedication behind each creation.
The atmosphere is elegant yet inviting, the service effortlessly refined. It’s not just sushi — it’s culinary poetry. If you appreciate excellence and artistry, this is the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after the last bite.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Sushi Cortaro. My server was Derrick and he was wonderful. Seated me immediately was was very timely on service. Made sure I was taken care of. I got a hot sake and was served immediately, which made me very happy. They even offered some complementary miso soup, which was delightful and brought it out as fast as they did the sake! I order a las vegas roll and spicy crunch tuna roll with salmon nigiri on the side. It was all wonderful and tasted fresh. I would very much reccomend this restuarant to friends and family.

My go-to spot for sushi on the north side of Tucson. This is a fantastic little restaurant that never fails to impress with its consistent high quality sushi. The sushi is always fresh and expertly prepared, making each visit a delightful experience. The staff members greet you with genuine warmth, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The restaurant itself is impeccably clean, reflecting their attention to detail and commitment to providing a pleasant dining environment. Additionally, they offer a 6% discount for cash payments, which is a nice bonus for regular customers. I wholeheartedly recommend this sushi spot to everyone I know, as it truly stands out in the local dining scene.

Personal Favorites: Freshwater Eel Nigiri, New Orleans Roll, Crazy Tuna Roll

First time visiting Sushi Cortaro. Friday evening and the place is packed. Thought it would take forever to get our order, but was pleasantly surprised how fast our food arrived. We ordered the Sushi and Sashimi for two. Amazing! The fish was very fresh and the rolls were awesome! Very attentive staff.

Sushi Cortaro does a great job keeping their dining room packed with people coming back for more with their extensive menu. I have dined here several times and always enjoy the taste. My only gripe with their food is they dress their plates with a variety of random aquarium decorations and flashing lights. I know that the average person can’t go ten minutes without watching a subway surfer compilation, but getting what is essentially an unagidon served on a plate with various pieces of random detritus around the edges instead of a nice bowl is a let down.

I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for your standard american sushi offerings, just be prepared to wait for a table to open up.

I am in town from Seattle visiting family and sushi is always on the agenda. The food was really good (great value!) but it was the service that took our experience to the next level – it was some of the best service either of us have ever experienced.

Our server’s name was Kyle and was everything anyone would want in a server: personable, knowledgeable, professional, attentive, an active listener…you name it. The right amount of engagement, humor, table check backs, etc. and it was obvious he knew how to “read” his tables as tables around us seemed to also appreciate and respond to his warmth and professionalism.

We both come from decades of restaurant and retail experience where we were instrumental in the training of employees to ensure guests and customers felt valued and would come back. Please pass this feedback onto him – too often customers will tell you what’s wrong but in this case, Kyle did EVERYTHING right.

This young man is a gem and is a wonderful reflection of your restaurant. We hope to be back soon for another yummy lunch – in Kyle’s section of course!

My wife and I ate here impromptu as we were having drinks nearby. This place offers great sushi (authentic, creative, priced appropriately ). The evening we visited they ran out of rice, but instead of stressing their situation, they gave us an extra roll that didn’t require the rice and it was fantastic! We will definitely be back!
