I come here often after church with family, and today I couldn’t overlook the numerous shortcomings of this restaurant. I firstly ordered an uptown, the drink tasted like it had been sitting for days. I sent it back. We went to order food and they were out of so many options, I settled on chicken wings. The table next to us although arriving after us, got their food first. Not ideal but okay. 10 minutes later the waitress comes out to say what we ordered is now sold out and they can’t get us that either. The food is usually okay while the service isn’t anything to boast about. The service today was absolutely terrible, from the spoiled uptown, not having things in stock, to upselling the chicken wings just to return later on and tell us they’re sold out. When the food finally came out, the chicken wasn’t seasoned, fried until all juice was gone it actually tasted old, cabbage tasted like it was boiled in water. Yams were a 4/10. This restaurant has definitely gone down hill over the last few years, which is very unfortunate.

Party of 2 in the morning on a weekday. Firstly, entering the restaurant, some substance was on the ground directly outside the door, making it a bit sticky/slippery. I suspect it was oil, but the floor inside was much better. Upon entering, the host greeted us and prompted us to sit anywhere we pleased. Unfortunately, I no longer remember her name, but the host was knowledgeable and friendly throughout our experience, often checking in on us + other guests. We had the spicy chicken hash, eggs, grits, home fries, and toast for our meals. Everything was good, and I definitely would recommend the chicken hash. As we left, we bumped into another employee who asked how the meal was and if we needed anything else. After she introduced herself as Vonda, the owner. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, and I will be returning.

Ok so I ordered the brioche French toast from this place the other morning . I was literally in utter disbelief when I realized that they have me a burger bun cut up as French toast. When I had looked through the reviews before going I seen people with triangular French toast with powder sugar etc . The service was ok it was early in the morning so I understand that the mood wasn’t a 10/10 . But the picture alone will speaks for itself . The portion was way too small for the price of $17. The food was also rock hard and not hot enough.

I’m very, very, very disappointed in the service.
We were looking forward to having a great meal.
We ordered a fish dinner and a few side dishes. But we were told, that they were out of fish.
So the next day, we decided to call to see, if there’s any other options?
Surprising to hear that they had what we wanted in the beginning.
It was a little questionable to me at first.
But anyway, long story. I’m not sure if I can give Vonda’s kitchen another try deceiving me or my family, again.
We ordered fried fish, collard greens, yams, Mac n cheese, corn bread and potato salad. Two orders of everything and found the fish based upon the looks of it. It was flaky gluey and from a freezer, not fresh at all.
Poor and an expensive investment.
Cutting corners on someone else’s dime doesn’t sit well with me.
It’s hard finding a good soul food place to make your heart and your money smile.

My family and I went here for Sunday brunch and it was pretty good. Outside of the waiter mistaking salad dressing for oil and the brioche French toast and bananas could have been a better presentation, we had a great waiter. It was amazing and I would definitely go back and try something else.

Found this spot while we were in town & the food was amazing, the wait staff was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The food did take quite a while, but came out fresh and tasty.

I was hesitant because this was my first time placing an order for my family from this establishment. And it turns out that my intuition was correct. Have you all seen the price? In my view, the food’s flavor did not justify the sum I spent. To give you an example, I requested fried eggs when I clicked the special instructions, but they came out scrambled. The scrambled eggs were too watery for my taste. If I could rate the home fries it would be a rating of 5/10. Because it maintained its crunchiness during transportation, the catfish would get a 6 out of 10 from me even though it was flavorless. A pinch of salt and some garlic would have made the grits perfect. You won’t get your money’s worth out of that chicken and waffle. The fried chicken turned out rather pale. Plus, my brother couldn’t eat it since it was bland. Hot sauce was a must for his chicken for him to be able to eat it. The so-called signature French toast was meant to be topped with walnuts, but I didn’t receive any. Plus, at $17, it seemed like a waste of money for something I could easily whip up at home. I took full responsibility for choosing this location, but I will definitely not make that mistake again.

I’ve recently discovered Vonda’s.
Parking is fairly easy on a weekday.
The establishment is nice. It’s spacious and usually no waiting for a table. The artwork on the walls are really nice.
The French toast is wonderful!!!! Kudos to the chef!!!!
Will definitely return for more.
Update: I am a regular here and will usually visit for lunch or dinner. The Catfish (baked) is spectacular!!! My sides were mac and cheese / collard greens. My guest had the baked chicken!
Delicious meal!!!
