Mowgli is all about how Indians eat at home and on their streets. She was born to feed the raw need Indians have for tiffins full of fresh bright intense flavour. Mowgli is not about the intimate, hushed dining experience. It is about the smash and grab zing of healthy, light, virtuosic herbs and spices. The simple dishes of a Mowgli menu are a million miles away from the curry stereotype. These dishes convey the truth that real Indian food is extremely healthy, often vegan and always packed with fresh flavour.

Visited a couple of weeks ago with my teenager… no booking… just walked in. We were made most welcome and enjoyed some late lunch.

The server I think was called Toby and was most helpful, friendly and very attentive yet not at all pushy in any way. Hats off to him – if only all restaurant staff were like this. He’s definitely a credit to this store.

I had angry chicken and my teen had a biryani. They were kind enough to bring me a box to take most of mine home (as I don’t eat much). Nothing went to waste.

Visit again ? Absolutely

We managed to get an early evening table on Saturday, the service level was excellent, we had the sharing meal for 4 people and there was a lot of food and choice. This is my first visit and we will be returning, the food was amazing. There is an optional 10% service charge that we gladly paid and also the £1 donation to a local children’s charity, special thanks to Brandon and Katie for there service.

I have been meaning to try this place for a long time. I really enjoyed the cocktail selection, it was beautifully presented and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is stunning, with a lovely atmosphere, and overall the service was good. Our waiter was friendly; however, I did notice that aside from asking about allergies, they didn’t provide much guidance. I overheard them explaining the menu and small-plates concept to the table next to us, who arrived after we did. As it was also our first visit, we would have appreciated the same introduction.

We ordered small plates that turned out to be quite small, and had this been explained, we likely would have chosen differently. The food was okay, but I didn’t leave feeling fully satisfied . perhaps it was just the dish I selected.

Firstly, the ambience and atmosphere are absolutely stunning. You can clearly see the thought and effort that has gone into the interiors – it’s vibrant, stylish, and full of character. The décor alone makes an impression, and the overall vibe is warm and inviting.

Service was decent, especially considering they appeared to be understaffed on the day, with only a couple of team members managing the entire floor. They did their best under pressure, which was appreciated.

Unfortunately, the food was a real disappointment. Having grown up in India and experienced a wide range of Indian cuisine both there and across the UK, I found the quality here to be below average. The curries were noticeably watered down and particularly the black dal and the lamb dish, both of which lacked the richness and depth you would expect. I wasn’t sure whether this was intended to align with the tiffin-style concept, but even authentic tiffin meals in Mumbai do not have such a thin, watery consistency.

The children’s portions were similarly diluted, and the paneer and rice dish was rejected by my kids which is rare, as they’re usually not fussy eaters.

In summary, it’s worth visiting for the ambience alone. However, given the pricing and the strong competition in the UK Indian dining scene (for example, places like Dishoom), the food quality leaves a lot to be desired.

We had a lovely early-evening meal here. The food was very tasty and the menu options are different to most other Indian restaurants. I had mango lassi for my drink, which I’d never tried before, and it was nice. I also enjoyed my butter chicken with pilau rice, and galub jamun for dessert. The service was prompt and very friendly.

This was our second visit to Mowgli. It’s brilliant. Our first visit was a spontaneous one and we booked in person before seeing Wicked at the cinema as needed somewhere to eat. The front of house could not have been sweeter to us and on a busy Saturday he found space for us. He also came and found us later and asked our thoughts on Wicked and if we’d enjoyed the film. Our second visit was equally as lovely. The food is mind blowing and all flavours we hadn’t had before and it’s lush and so yummy. The wait staff again just really make you feel welcome and at home. The same lovely front of house gentleman seated us and was amazing again. We were later served by Toby, who was just a delight and took time when asked to teach us the correct pronunciation of the dishes we didn’t know. The atmosphere, the food and the service all just make coming to Mowgli such a lovely experience and I cannot recommend it enough. Get the lamb chops!!

Christmas Get Together with sister and hubby. The staff were lovely front of house and our server. Food was faultless and everything was tasty. The restaurant is full of lights and very pretty, sadly we were sat in a corner which was very poorly lit and not like anywhere else in the restaurant, couldn’t read the menu very well due to the poor lighting. I would request better seating when booking to get the full experience. Despite the seating we had a fantastic night.

The food was good, especially the sticky chicken and chaat bombs, which melted in the mouth. The portion sizes were good. The waiter explained how the dishes are served, which was nice to hear. We would have preferred everything to arrive at once rather than waiting for other dishes, but we appreciated the heads-up.

Food was nice .my friend highly enjoyed it but I was rather ill from it ( too spicy or possibly the yoghurt bomb things were too much for me). Service was exceptional very friendly staff. Atmosphere was lovely. Bit dim in there and me and my friend struggled reading the menu despite being next to the window. Quite pricey for what it was we thought. They advise that you select a range of foods as they are small plates. Im not a big eater and got two things and it was more than enough.

The atmosphere and staff was what made it pleasurable and think this is a lovely place to take someone for a treat. I bet nits lovely in the evening for intimate dinners.

I cannot recommend Mowgli in Norwich enough. From the moment we stepped in we had wonderful customer service, with all staff being so attentive, warm and friendly. It’s been the best service I’ve had in years. The food and drinks arrived promptly and were all absolutely delicious (the black Dahl is a brilliant new addition to the menu!) and the sharing menu is great value. We cant wait to go back!
