We walked into the restaurant on Christmas Eve, expecting it to be busy, but the lovely ladies at the reception found us a table quickly.
We got one of the couches, and the atmosphere was relaxed. The restaurants’ walls were decorated with photos of burlesque, which explains the name. Our servers were super friendly and helpful.
Since we weren’t super hungry, we ordered a rib-eye steak to share with crispy potatoes baked in duck fat, spinach, and sprouts. A bottle of red Barolo fit really well.
We liked it very much, so we’re giving it a warm recommendation.
Got the NY strip..now the best steak I’ve had in my life was at keens a few years ago where we got the fillet and the 21 aged rib eye, and this wasn’t on that level. It is still very very good though. The crust on this is spectacular, the meat was nice but not melt in your mouth tender. But perhaps thats the cut. Next time I’ll try a closer cut and redo this review!
In either case – this is a seriously good steak.
The server didn’t come until maybe 5 mins after… mind you the restaurant was empty. After that, service was fine. I got my meal at a decent pace and their price for restaurant week for a 3 course meal was $60.
We arrived about 10 minutes early and were kindly allowed to wait in the foyer, which was a nice touch. Our reservation was for 4:00 PM, and we were promptly seated right on time. Our drinks and appetizers were taken quickly, but it took over 30 minutes for them to arrive. I had the crab cake, which was flavorful and well-prepared.
For dinner, I ordered the twin lobster tails. They were delicious and cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the filet mignon butterflied and topped Oscar-style, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The steak was tender and cooked to her liking.
We shared the creamed spinach and a loaded baked potato. The sides were underwhelming—not terrible, but not particularly memorable compared to the main courses.
We both ordered French martinis, and they were very strong—definitely heavy on the pour. Depending on your preference, that could be a plus!
Our waiter was great, and we enjoyed our meal and the convenience of dining here after the show. With a little improvement in timing and sides, it would be an even better experience.
(will NOT be back at their midtown location)
The reason for 2 stars is poor service. I understand it might vary from waiter to waiter but I can only judge by the service given to us. No bread offered – while other tables around us were getting bread. My son didn’t get his plate and silverware until asked for it, even as food was served. Our steak with sides arrived 1 1/2 hours after we were seated, and we didn’t have any appetizers or salads. While tables around us had their food served promptly, we were sitting waiting.
Once the food finally came out, it was COLD. The steak was luke warm and all the sides were literally room temperature (cold).
Truffle butter on steak was missing, although it was added to the bill.
Again, atmosphere was good and food tasted good but service was non existent for our table.
Plus – my husband says to get the martini with the blue cheese olives!
