Decided to try this location since I’ve found in the Michelin list. Never trying Caribbean food, I was open but of course a little skeptical. So with that said. It’s definitely a flavorful offering. Almost everything has been infused with flavors.. maybe a bit earthy or bitter for some, but good non the less. Would recommend just to try. I think their jerk chicken is better than their standard fries chicken

I finally tried The Jerk Shack in San Antonio after seeing so many reviews, and let me tell you — the hype is REAL. I usually take online reviews with a grain of salt, so I started simple and ordered the pulled pork, while my daughter got the fried chicken.

When I say this food was GOOD… I mean OMG good. The pulled pork was delicious, and after tasting my daughter’s fried chicken, I literally had to go back and order my own — plus the cocoa bread! Everything was seasoned perfectly, cooked just right, and full of flavor.

All I can say is OMG. So, so good. I absolutely cannot wait to go back!

I had a great experience here! The service was excellent—our food came out very quickly, which I really appreciated. The staff created such a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that made the visit even better. And the food? Absolutely authentic and full of amazing flavor. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. I’ll definitely be coming back!

The Jerk Shack is definitely worth the visit. Delicious food, great service and welcoming atmosphere. The place is clean, with fun art and lively color choices. It’s small but has plenty of seating.
I had the half jerk, half fried chicken, and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My sides were the masala fries and pineapple coleslaw. Both were delicious. My son had the chicken curry, which he said was very well seasoned, chicken was tender and the curry sauce was outstanding. All servings were very generous.

This is a Veteran Black Woman owned establishment which really brought me in. Then top it off it’s a Michelin recommended establishment so hell yeah I’m going.

The atmosphere was really nice. Beautiful artwork displayed as well as the owners many accolades. It was also very clean.

We ordered: 2 meat meal which consisted both the jerk chicken and fried chicken. The two sides were the Mac n Cheese as well as the rice n peas. We also ordered the beef patties, jerk chicken empanadas and a jerk chicken plate with the fries and coco bread.

Being that we have had jerk chicken before we were expecting a smoke flavor to the chicken but surprisingly there was none. However the chicken skin was flavorful and the meat juicy and tender but the flavor was surface level. The fried chicken was underwhelming for it to be the best San Antonio has to offer. One, the pieces of the fried chicken were disproportionately smaller than the jerk and they were both thighs. As well as lack of seasoning. The Mac n cheese was not what I was expecting and no I was not expecting Thanksgiving Mac n cheese. But I’ve had Jamaican Mac n cheese and our Thanksgiving type and this was just a Miss. The rice and peas were dry. The beef patties were more mush than meat. The chicken empanadas with the accompanying sauce was good. The coco bread was good.

All and all I wouldn’t come back but I’m glad I popped in. This is my review so please do yourself a favor and try it and let your taste buds do the review.

What an awesome place to eat! Delicious jerk chicken oh my goodness but if we weren’t impressed with how everything was prepared, : the delectable cabbage, plantain, rice and peas, jerked and fried chicken were all presented tastefully to our palate; seasoned superbly and most delicious. We appreciate The Jerk Shake

Large portions when ordering the chopped plates so either come hungry or I’d recommend splitting a plate. I had the chopped jerk chicken with rice and beans and the masala fries. My husband had the chicken tacos with the masala fries. The jerk sauce has some spice to it as well as the rice and beans. The masala fries were good. My husband liked his tacos, but there wasn’t any sauce on them.

The food was decent, nothing outstanding, but not bad either. I felt it was slightly overpriced for fairly standard dishes that didn’t particularly stand out. The restaurant itself was clean and pleasant, making it fine for a one-time visit, though it didn’t leave a strong enough impression for me to return.

This is REAL authentic Jamaican! I can vouch for it. I been here a few times…but TODAY?????!!! The oxtail was complete FIRE!!! The flavor was so full and the kick to it perrrrrfect!!!! They ran out due to the base near by I was almost disappointed because I drove an hour and half to come experience it, the other restaurants around I tried, complete trash Even the plate prep you can’t take pictures. But the Jerk Shack is the place to be. Forget the rest, just come here. It’s been consistent and be better every time I come here. I moved close by so I’ll always come in when I miss home. Thank you I was home sick for a bit this just brought me back.
