If your going for lunch, don’t unless it’s for a burger. Mt guest order it, looked great! I on the other hand had the ruben. Meat was decent, very little kraut, I think the bread was wheat & the greatest disappointment was the American/Swiss! Exterior/interior of building need drastic updates! Lobby smells of old urine. Wait staff was decent. But most likely will not patron again, unfortunately. I heard good things and was definitely not what I expected.

Visited for the first time today and enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the patio. The pancakes and thick cut bacon were so good. We will definitely be back.

My family has been going to Cameo for 25+ years. The food is always good. The service amazing and the staff are friendly and great people. The owner is genuine and loves her customers. Nicely run local small business that I will continue to support. I also like that it has a nice patio for summertime outdoor seating by the golf course. The bar is fun for NFL Sundays and has an awesome happy hour menu. Give it a try if you haven’t been here yet.

My partner and I are regulars here. We usually Love coming in for dinner, Stephanie is usually our server, she’s great. HOWEVER. WE decided to come in for breakfast since I’d been sure we’d like it. It’s important to mention we were in the far back corner away from most people (as we always prefer). When we were greeted by our server, who was an older woman named Carmen. all seems great until my partners sister called. She answered as we knew it was important and immediately began turning the sound down. She then very loudly and rudely said “turn that down nobody wants to hear that, it’s already loud, I can’t hear and I’m right here” I don’t mind being told to be a bit quieter, the problem was the way she was speaking to us. We got our food to go as soon as it was on our table. We were very sad to be leaving one of our favorite spots that way and disappointed.

This was my 1st time coming here for Breakfast. I had the 1/2 acre of pancakes with strawberries, whipped cream. They have a in house made sauce that paired perfectly with the pancakes(I can highly recommend it). My buddy got the omlet, and biscuit and gravy. They staff is amazing and nice. I will be back.

It was a nice, old style diner. It has an attached bar as well, with two separate entrances. They’re prices are about average for the kind of food.
I had a breakfast. They’re bacon is amazing. But they need to really crisp their hash rowns a bit more.

Service was great was seated right away, was offered multiple coffee refills.

I ordered a taco omelette.

What I received was a log of eggs, meat , onions and cheese that had no flavor.

Very solid chowder here on Fridays and a solid burger as well. Chicken fried steak was good although I didn’t know one of the things to do with it was put Korean hot sauce on it and will have to try that at some point. The chicken dinner was also a winner. Still need to try some of their Korean dishes here, but I hear they’re good as well.

Visited for the first time today for brunch with some friends.
It was super busy (typical Sunday), but everyone was incredibly nice & attentive.
I went with a classic biscuits & gravy, washed it down with a mimosa, & it was delicious.

Overall: lovely atmosphere, great staff, amazing food, very reasonable prices!

Let us climb into the way back machine and twist the dial back about 25 years. The first time I ever ate at Cameo’s Cafe. It was dated then and it’s even more dated now except it now it’s a little dustier. They are shooting for a kind of elegant yet approachable dining on the golf course type of thing. I spent quite a bit of time on the East Coast, where this is done as if it were part of breathing, and cameo café just doesn’t really do it.
None of this would make any difference if the food were extraordinary, but like the decor the food was dated as well.
Perhaps if it overlooked a soccer rink instead of a golf course. It might make more sense because I’m afraid that hamburger was as tough and hard and round as a hockey puck. This does not portray the gentile and sophisticated atmosphere I think they might be going for.

There is an uprising of great burgers, extraordinary hand, cut fries with that perfect crunch going on in Vancouver. Cameo Café is a place stuck in time, a relic in amber.

Maybe they don’t want a younger and fresher audience, but as their old regulars pass away, I would hope that they would test the winds and realize that change is not always a bad thing. With a little training for the chef, great things could be possible.

So the burger, was pretty terrible. Chewy and hard and unimaginative, but there was one place that cameo Café did really well and that for me was the service. From the older woman who seems like she may have been there for a long time, waitressing is deep in her blood. She does it like an old cowpoke climbing up into his saddle every morning before the sun rises in the west. She does it almost without thinking,a path that she has walked 100,000 times. I would be willing to bet for a lot of regulars she is the next thing to being family.

The younger waitress, possibly under the tutelage of the standardbearer was great too! She was attentive, friendly, and unobtrusive. Revamp the restaurant, rewrite the menu, but do not let go of the staff.

Let me also say, I love the fact that they bring you not only iced tea, but a carafe so that you do not run out when they are busy. It is a touch. I have always loved in restaurants.

Cameo Café overlooks a golf course, and looking out the window is a little bit like looking out of a spaceship window at a different world. there are simply not that many golf courses in Vancouver. It makes you wonder, but it also gives you a pretty good idea of a major portion of their clientele.

25 years ago, I was not that impressed. If I had been, we would’ve eaten there often over the years but here so many years later, I see that that has not happened, and it’s for a reason. We were not that judgmental in those days. There simply were not that many great options in Vancouver, but times have changed and the food scene here has gotten much better. Cameo café should make a choice to either join the New World or turn the reins over to someone else.
Nostalgia… Is not always what you wish it might be.
