The restaurant is really spacious and beautifully set up — it feels very Vietnamese. The food menu has lots of variety, though the flavors aren’t 100% authentic Vietnamese. The drinks menu is great with so many tasty options. Overall, they’ve done a great job!

I don’t think its an authentic viet food. I have been in vietnam and the food there is more flavourful and tasty. In my opinion this resto is overrated. 10-15 minutes wait on a weekend. FCFS reservation. And unfortunately, there’s an hour and a half hour limit to stay and eat at the resto. Plenty of free parking space just across the street corner. Staff don’t smile.

My friend told me about the authentic quality of Vietnamese dishes of An Viet. So today we gave us a trying visiting this restaurant. We had vermicelli salad and beef noodle soup “pho”. The meat was very tender and juicy and the broth of the soup was so flavorful. We really loved it. Will definitely recommend An Viet Eastwood to my friends, too.

P/s: Kudos to the boys serving us today (7 March). Although we had to wait a bit to get a table, their friendly attitude made us very happy. Thanks a lot!

Third time eating at An Viet Eastwood and have dined at their Chatswood restaurant a couple of times.
It’s modern and clean.
Sunday night and don’t need to wait for a table.
Although menus were provided, we had to order using our phone (must be standard now)
The combination beef pho was reasonable as was the spicy pork and beef combo. (Although I prefer the spicy on a cool night)
The spring rolls were good but the standout was the Vietnamese salad with prawns.
Really, that’s the reason I keep coming back. The sweet, salty, sour and fresh salad makes the trip worthwhile.

Always honest with my views and yes I admit not always easy to please. I have tried this place a few times but it has remained the same. Their Bun Bo Hue is average and would not recommend it. The pricing is high compared to other places. Comfortable environment is a concession.

This place is certainty my go-to restaurant for quality Vietnamese food.
Tried some not so common Viet dishes and ordered the Nem Lui and Chicken Satay + Rice for lunch. The portions are generous like their other dishes, really love the good amount of veggie or pickled veggie on the side. The flavour is fantastic, satay chickens are nicely grilled and the sauce that came with Nem Lui is very appetizing.
The staff are nice and food came quickly although I do find their ordering system leave me concern if my order had gone through to the kitchen. The restaurant is very comfortable with heaps of seating .
It is a restaurant I would come back for more even though its slightly high priced than most viet restaurant simply because the quality and quantity are matching the price if not more.

Delicious Pho and bun Bo hue up in the hills area. This joint has plenty of variety though their signature Pho and spicy beef noodle soups are hard to avoid.

Disclaimer: I’m Vietnamese and grew up with authentic flavours, so I usually prefer cooking Vietnamese food at home rather than eating out. Please take that into consideration when reading my review.

Food

We ordered Crispy Chicken as an entrée, Bún Bò Huế (Spicy Huế Beef & Pork Noodle Soup) as our main, and the coconut ice cream with peanuts for dessert.

Crispy Chicken – Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing. The skin was perfectly crispy, the meat was juicy, and the portion size was generous. The dipping sauce is sweet and sour, pair perfectly with the dish. Definitely worth the price.

Bún Bò Huế – Good, but not authentic (for me).
As someone used to authentic flavours, I found it lacking the deep, strong fragrance of lemongrass and shrimp paste that really defines a proper Bún Bò Huế. The meats and toppings were adequate. My Chinese friend really enjoyed it and complimented it a lot. Overall, I think it’s very good for non-Vietnamese diners, but it didn’t fully hit the mark for me personally.

Dessert – TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!
We ordered the most expensive dessert on the menu — the $24.90 coconut ice cream. Unfortunately, it was not value for money. It seemed like vanilla ice cream rather than coconut (I may need to double-check this with the venue). My friend, who has worked in restaurants and tasted many vanilla ice creams before, mentioned it wasn’t even close in quality to brands like Supermarket brands like Bulla.

We received 4 x scoops plus one coconut shell. For $25, it simply didn’t justify the price. The coconut meat was not pre-peeled and was extremely hard to remove — we actually hurt our hands trying to scoop it out with a spoon. I was genuinely disappointed. As it’s the last thing we ate of the meal, it left a bad impression of our dinner there. I wouldn’t recommend ordering this.

Some menu prices were also quite surprising:

$19 for 3 spring rolls

$17 for 4 pieces of beef in betel leaves

$27 for a prawn salad

I personally found those prices difficult to justify.

‍ Service

We visited on Thursday night at 6:30pm and the restaurant was packed. Service for the entrées and noodles was efficient, but dessert took about 20 minutes to arrive.

Venue

The restaurant is large, with good street frontage and easy to locate. However, the restroom area is down a long, empty, and quite dark hallway, which felt a bit strange. Cleanliness overall was average.

Total price tag: $95 for 2 x people with 1 x entree, 2 x noodle and 1 x dessert.

⭐ Summary

Overall, the experience was okay. It could have been great if the dessert hadn’t been such a disappointment and expensive. Portion sizes are generally good, based on what I observed at other tables.

I would bring non-Vietnamese friends here if they’re craving Vietnamese food. As for myself, I’ll stick to cooking Vietnamese dishes at home for flavours closer to what I’m used to — and I definitely won’t be ordering ice cream here again.
