We come here several times a year and have never been disappointed with the food.
Today we stopped in for the off season Tuesday parm special. We both got the eggplant parm, and you get a very generous portion for $15.99. It’s my favorite dish here and we have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow’s dinner.
We also love their plain cheesecake and took home two slices to eat later. These are also reasonably priced at $6 a slice.
Note that the Lewes location is relatively small so the dining area can be a bit tight when they fill up. We try and get there ahead of the dinner rush so it’s not quite as full or loud.
This place respects your wallet, and your stomach. It was only my first time visiting, but you can be darn sure I’ll be back. It is as advertised – traditional, New York Italian food that’s hard to get around DE. When people say something feels like it was “made with love”, this is what they’re talking about. Everything was fresh, and made to order.
The only thing worth considering for any other potential customers is that it is a small establishment, and seating is very limited. That, and their Black and White cookie was not up to snuff. But everything else was fantastic.
A must stop at if you are in the area
A quick note- this is more of a pricey option for dinner but worth the money!
We were seated immediately (though we can blame it being a Wednesday afternoon), and the waitstaff were very nice through the whole experience. We were given a few slices of bread and olive oil before having our orders taken, and already you can tell this place will be good. Bread was warm and delicious and the oil had amazing spices that paired well before a full Italian meal!
For drinks:
The sangria was not exactly sweet, but still good. The virgin orange crush mocktail was also good, and a great option for younger diners.
For the food, I have no complaints. I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked to be just a small Italian place, but they did not disappoint. The ravioli was some of the best I had ever had, a creamy cheese center and incredible sauce topped with delicious ricotta cheese. The lasagne was amazing, even better (I’m told) than the lasagne my mom makes at home. The calzone was milder than expected, but still quite good. The chicken parm was also incredible, rivaling the lasagne for our tables favorite.
As stated before this was definitely a pricier option, though it had incredible food that we didn’t have to wait three hours for!
First of all, how are you gonna put a table towards the back and the chair at the end would be putting you practically NEXT to another table facing opposite ways. How was the other gentleman going to leave his table ? Then when we moved the chair to the other end the person who walked us to the table was Leary of us moving it there . Granted she did look young . But the fact we were a party of 5 and she inquired “ I thought you were 5” when there’s 5 people in front of you is quite disheartening.
Full bar had no pineapple juice. Ok. Not sure what the hype for this place is about. I will admit the service towards the end was better , but you have to ask for the bread to be brought out . There was 3-4 other parties and it took them longer than it should have for the service and the amount of people there . When the bread was brought out there was only 4 small plates . No plate for me . Ok. Fine . You have to ask for butter . Bread was decent. That is all.
Food is fine. It is a tourist area so they can afford to charge that price for the quality.
Wouldn’t suggest it to anyone. All these people who are leaving 5 stars are doing it for the two people who I actually saw loved their jobs. I can respect that.
Onto the dishes, tomato sauce was mediocre. No herbal taste . All I could taste was the cheese . Expected more for “ some of the best food in Lewes” . Also charging 20$ for some fettuccine and sauce is diabolical on all levels . Calzone I would recommend though that was pretty good.
The only good thing in Delaware is their roads compared to Pennsylvania and the fact that they have no sales tax.
