The food is pretty good. We ordered LOADED POTATO CROQUETTES 5/5, MILLIONAIRE BURGER 4/5, and CAESAR DI MODENA w/added chicken 4/5.
I believe they have a good happy hour.
I then asked the representative, “Since I’m celebrating my partner’s birthday, do you do anything special for birthdays?” She replied, “Off the top of my head, I don’t know anything.” There was a long pause after this response, so I followed up by saying, “Would you be able to check with a manager and find out for me, please?” She then said, “Yes, I can do that if you’d like. Give me one second.”
This was the first moment I felt I had to guide her on how to handle the situation. As a customer, I should not have to instruct an employee to seek out information when they don’t know the answer to a question. If you’re unsure, the appropriate response is to find the answer, not to leave the customer waiting or confused.
When she returned to the line, she told me the manager was “busy” and would call me back in the morning. Again, there was a long silence, and I realized she was not going to ask for my phone number. I had to prompt her by saying, “Can I give you my phone number so the manager can call me back?” She responded, “Oh yeah, give me one second.”
At this point, I was already frustrated because this was now the second time I felt I had to coach her through basic customer service steps. This made me question what my experience would be like if I actually came to the restaurant. As a customer, I should not feel like I am guiding someone on how to do their job.
I want to be clear that I remained respectful, kind, and patient throughout the entire interaction. However, after this experience, I ultimately decided not to proceed with giving my phone number or pursuing a reservation. I told her, “Unfortunately, after this interaction, I no longer wish to make a reservation or dine here.” I wished her a good night and ended the call.
I am disappointed because my previous plans for my partner’s birthday were canceled, and I was already under stress trying to find an alternative. Instead of receiving helpful support, I found myself having to walk an employee through how to problem-solve and how to find answers when they did not know them.
But the food makes up for the recent lack of service.
On December visit: The ambiance is always relaxing and elegant, with views of the golf course and water. The service is friendly and the menu has a variety of dishes to suit different tastes and preferences.
We opted to share two appetizers. The wonton tacos, super crispy shell stuffed with juicy flavorful short ribs. The meatballs are a must! Very generous portion and flavorful sauce. We had extra sauce so got an extra order of the garlic bread that comes on the side.
For cocktails: I had a double espresso Martini, one of the many cocktails that the restaurant offers.
On my November visits: it was a beautiful day so we sat out on the patio. We try to sit on the patio any chance we can. I really enjoyed the watermelon salad, the pine nuts and fennel are a great compliment. We also got the French dip to share and it was fantastic. It was easy to share, we let them know in advance and they brought us an extra au juice.
For cocktails: I got the strawberry basil Martini, it was a perfect drink for a sunny day. Sweet but not too sweet as there is some lemon in there.
I highly recommend the V’ Taproom to anyone who is looking for a great dining experience on a golf course. The food, the drinks, atmosphere are all top-notch. It is a place that I will definitely visit again.
