I saw a review saying they were unhappy with the amount of meat in the order, this is spot on. Very stingy and rude staff. Specifically the two young Latin girls. They were rolling their eyes when we asked for a little more meat (as they added two shreds of sweet pork). I even said I will pay extra and they barely added any. When leaving the store I saw them look back and laugh while clearly looking at me and my sister. I speak Spanish and could hear them bad mouthing! I go to costa vida at least twice a week and will NEVER return to this location and hope they hire more professional and kind employees in the future! The photo I provided is what I paid extra for after requesting extra meat.

Ordered a sweet pork burrito and I’m not just being facetious when I say there was no meat. There was not a single piece in it. Not a morsel. Not to mention it was about the size a large TV remote if that. Maybe the worst experience I’ve ever had at any restaurant. So ridiculous. Costa Vida corporate, I love your food and usually your employees do a great job. But obviously there needs to be some SERIOUS QC at this location…

It’s frustrating and annoying that after years of this restaurant model they still aren’t trying to get a better system for the amount of meat served than just having the servers eyeball it. On this visit my son’s salad and my salad were both abnormally sparse in terms of the meat the guy put in our entrees compared to other visits. And it left my son very disappointed when he ate his salad (which I didn’t find out till later). The server was clearly trying to be really fast and efficient, and so he just grabbed a little glob of meat and threw it on each salad, and immediatley moved on to the other ingredients without really considering how small the globs were. I don’t blame him as much as the restaurant itself though, because it’s a decision by the people at the top to choose a highly variable system that doesn’t use any measuring devices, and then asks customers for an extra 2.50 or four bucks if you want more meat. I sometimes pay to get more, but honestly when the first glob is already tiny, it feels like a huge rip off to pay another couple of bucks for what is likely to be another tiny glob of meat. So Costa Vida has decided they don’t care if sometimes you get a lot less than what you think you are paying for. Obviously not every ingredient needs precise measurements, and the precision doesn’t have to be perfect, but it’s offensive to customers when the restaurant doesn’t even attempt to use an actual measuring tool of any kind for the most expensive and key ingredient that makes or breaks the meal. So, if you’re going to play that game, at least train the employees to err on the side of generosity instead of skimping. With all the cafeteria style restaurants that have learned about measuring cups or scales, it’s very disappointing to still be playing roulette at places like Costa Vida and Cafe Rio.

I have lived in Bountiful for 22 years now. I have been going to this Costa Vida since they opened I’m pretty sure about 15 years ago. I prefer them over Cafe Rio. In the last year and a half I have noticed though they skimp A LOT on the portions. I went today to get pork enchiladas. The guy literally put a sliver of pork on the enchiladas! I remember when they stuffed them full. If things don’t change I won’t be coming here anymore. I’ll go to other restaurants/food trucks that actually give you your money’s worth. I’m posting a picture of my meal (flat & sad looking enchiladas) vs. what they advertise what they should look like.

The first time we visited this Costa Vida location was 3 years ago. My mother has a gluten allergy and asks workers to change their gloves to avoid cross contamination. The first employee changed his gloves but the rest didn’t and so my mother got sick. Yesterday we were in Bountiful again and although we had a bad experience we knew it had been a while so we gave it another shot. I ordered online because I was in a rush. I got to the restaurant 10 minutes early for the online order so I waited, there was no problem with that. There was only 3 people in line when I arrived. After the 10 minutes was over and I stilled hadn’t gotten the food 4 more people came in and walked out before me. At this point I realized it would have just been faster to wait in line like everyone else instead of the online order. As I said before my mother has a gluten allergy and I had called ahead of this online order and asked them to change their gloves. I watched them as they didn’t change their gloves. I didn’t give the food to my mother because I knew she would get sick. From these 2 experiences that were spaced 3 years apart we will no longer go to this Costa Vida. At this location it seems to be a problem with the employees the management here hires. Both times the employees haven’t been capable to give decent service. Some of our personal favorite locations of Costa Vida that we have never had a problem with and still go to are in Layton and West Kaysville.

This location is an embarrassment to the chain. Corporate should revamp and retrain. I just ordered a kid quesadilla for my son and it had about a 2″ circle of 3 pieces of chicken with a sprinkling of cheese on it. My 4 yr old said “mom, where’s my food? They out of cheese?” When I complained and showed them, they said “yeah, that’s a quesadilla…I guess we can put more cheese on if you’d like”. Which they did, begrudgingly. The staff looks like they’re stuck in slow motion. Very bizarre. I’ve avoided coming here for a long time but thought I’d try again. Won’t be back.

Pretty phenomenal food, fresh, great taste, ordered online and picked up 5 minutes early but it was already ready. The thing i wish they’d had was ability to order Horchata through the app. Maybe a sign that says “online order pickup”. If there was one it was my bad. First time to this location, same incredible flavor.

If you have any food allergies this isnt the place for you!! I told them I was allergic to guacamole and they still grabbed the guacamole spoon and tried to put it on my plate. I also repeated my order 5 times! They still couldn’t get it right. I have counted 7 employees standing around on their phones, eating and drinking, even the ones behind the counter!!

Least professional staff I have ever encountered. We walked in 45 minutes before closing to order and we’re treated like an inconvenience. Then, as we were eating in the dining room my kids and I were eating we had to listen to the staff speak louding about their dating endeavors with teenage girls. They were bragging about dating a 17 year old 3 months before she turned 18 and one even bragged about telling a 29 year old woman he was 18 when he was actually 16. They were also cussing and using profanity very loudly at the front counter. It was very uncomfortable to say the least.
