What an awesome experience! Fish tacos were delicious and the presentation was just as great! So much food.
It should be noted how busy the restaurant was, yet how quiet the restaurant remained. The background music did not cause everyone to talk over each other. And the staff worked like a well-experienced team, stepping in to help each other while supporting all the guests.
Definitely worth the wait.

My family and I were on vacation staying just down the road from Buxton Munch. We were all in the mood for fish tacos, and found this place by accident. It’s one of the best accidents we found. We all ordered the fish tacos and were amazed by the amount of food and the freshness of every ingredient. The owner and the staff were super friendly, which made lunch that much more enjoyable. If I lived down the street from this place, I would probably eat here once a week. I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed!

So happy they let us in last minute. They are super nice and friendly there. Service was great. Neat place. Star of the show is the fish taco platter. It was YUMMMMMM! Highly recommended. Fresh, and they give you plenty. Will definitely be on our places to eat when we visit again.

Love this little “hole in the wall” we make sure to visit it every year when we’re on vacation. They have the best fish tacos and shrimp wraps out there and the staff is awesome! Hands down they have some of the best food in the OBX, skip getting dressed up and going out on the town. Come here instead you won’t regret it!

We waited patiently for a year to get back to Buxton Munch as our first stop on the island. Plan was together there as soon as they opened, and take out our fish tacos ( which was trigger fish), and shrimp wrap to the beach before the crowd! So happy to see the owners didn’t retire, but instead chose to work longer to make their MANY customers happy!! That’s a rarity for sure! We knew we would have too much food for lunch, so we had it for dinner too! Perfect welcome to Hatteras Island. Thank you, Buxton Munch for providing a quality product in a lovely, decorative, quaint atmosphere. Never change a thing! Hope to see you next year!

Great food and atmosphere. The shrimp basket my wife ordered had some of the best shrimp ever!! It was melt is your mouth popcorn shrimp.
The shrimp corn chowder was plentiful.
I had the fish taco’s with fish of the day mahi-mahi. Once again excellently prepared.
This is a must return and more than one stop per trip place to eat!!!

I love this restaurant. The staff are friendly and inviting. The food is obviously made to order with fresh ingredients. I got the roll your own tacos with blackened Mahi Mahi, a cup of shrimp and corn chowder, and sweet potato waffle fries. I also got baklava for dessert BUT that isn’t always available so I felt special especially because it was the day before my birthday.

Great local eatery! We waited about 20 minutes for a seat at the counter (only 2 of us- so that was fine.) FYI- There are only a handful of tables – larger parties need to be flexible. Our late lunch was well worth the wait! We had the homemade chips and salsa as an appetizer. Before we were finished with it, our food arrived. I ordered grilled old bay grouper tacos and my other half ordered grilled old bay shrimp tacos. Both platters arrived quickly. They were fresh, well-cooked and beautifully presented. I added onion straws. He added fries. Both were piping hot and delicious! Food is great and the atmosphere is quirky. Come hungry. Be patient. Leave happy and full! Highly recommend trying them out. We will return!

Cool cafe tucked into a tiny strip mall in Buxton. Easy to miss but don’t! Fish tacos were AMAZING! Beautifully presented and the service was great. I’m guessing a lot of locals come here as well. Cool vibe. Clean bathroom. We will be back.
