This is by far the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to in my life and I have been eating sushi for over 30 years. It was the smallest portion of fish, the biggest portion of rice and when I asked them about that they were just very rude. Also, I was only able to get four orders of their muscles. I guess that’s their rule four orders per person. I remember when sushi was made at a 50% split. 50%protein and 50% carbs, I know those days are long gone but really this ratio is probably 2% protein in 98% carbs. I should say 60% carbs and 38% fat and 2% protein. The sous chef was rude when my wife asked him what was the role that he just gave her and he ignored her, but the host was also very rude. They were very defensive instead of trying to have service skills and being polite. They just were very rude and adamant about those are the size of their portions, whether I like it or not I have never ever done a bad review on anyone in my life. This is the first time I’ve ever wanted to leave a review I felt it was necessary to tell the world how terrible this place is don’t ever go there! Save your money go somewhere else like sushi pier that is an awesome place. And last the energy vibe that we felt there was just outrageous. I actually feel sorry for people there. They just seem so miserable and unhappy and defensive and of course, very rude.

Walked in on a Friday evening for dinner since I have been craving sushi and wanted to go somewhere close. They were really busy, but our table of 2 was seated quickly. The restaurant was small, but there is an option for table or bar seating. We got a table seat and opted for all you can eat. The price was $32.99 for dinner.

For appetizers, we got mussels, seaweed salad, miso soup, and gyoza. The seaweed salad, gyoza, and miso soup was good and standard across most sushi places. The mussels were really good, but they limit two orders per person.

We usually go for nigiri and a few long rolls. The fish was fresh, but the ratio for fish to rice in the nigiri was way off. There is too much rice for the amount of fish. If they removed 1/3 of the rice for each piece, it would have been perfect. I see they might be adding more rice to get you to feel full faster and they can save on the fish. The rolls we got were JJ, rainbow, and black tiger. Not very memorable to me.

They give you the typical wasabi and ginger. The wasabi was spicy which I love! There were only two pieces of ginger and it was a good palate cleanser so we asked for more.

The service here is great. All the servers helped each other and on top of collecting dirty plates since the tables are very small. They provide you with the papers to mark your order and are quick to bring you your appetizers.

This was a good experience, but the ratio of rice and fish in the nigiri turned me off and I do not like how they limit orders on the popular appetizers especially for the price. They can accommodate larger parties, but they only have 1 table for groups larger than 4. Hopefully they will adjust the ratio of rice to fish in the nigiri and I will come back in the future.

I used to go here all the time, sent so many people to them. It has been about 6 months since I went last. Today I placed a to go order. I ordered the three rolls. I asked for some more soy sauce which is served in a cup. The woman told me I could only have two. Now three people are eating, why would we want to dip each others sushi in the same cup. She said that’s more than enough. Really? Then o get it home to find out how stingy they really are. There is bare to nothing inside these rolls but rice. I mean like there was absolutely no taste of the fish. I have never experienced this with them before. Guess I will not be returning to this place nor would I recommend anyone I know going there. So sad because I used to love it. And why would a restaurant be Freddy w soy sauce? Not to mention for three rolls I got the smallest two slivers of ginger in the cup. I hope they read these reviews and make a change.

Best freaking sushi in town! Worth driving from Reno or elsewhere. The owners care very much about cleanliness and the quality of their fish. Our family does every special occasion here. Simply excellent!

Small sushi restaurant. They had decent sushi. It is all you can eat. Average pricing. The rolls were good size and came out fast. A sushi bar surrounded by high pub tables. A little tight in there but the waiters move through fairly well. A good place for kids who like sushi

I can’t believe we’ve never tried this place before. The best service and sushi in Reno/Sparks. Everyone was so friendly and the rolls came out quick. Only sushi place I will be going from now on.

This was our first time at JJs, Suffice to say it won’t be our last. The waitresses were very attentive and cordial. The chefs were fast with orders. The food not only looked good it tasted even better. The Unagi and Salmon were both fresh and tasteful. We had three rolls as well, everything just tasted good. My wife and I both commented on the rice being cooked perfectly and fresh. We are by no means rice aficionados we just have three rice cookers and lived in Japan for a good amount of time. All that aside, when you hear customers come in and are greeted by name, it says a lot for the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was a pleasure walking slowly out with a thank you come again from the staff. Love it.

All RICE. One of the worst sushi places in town. We can’t even order the second round because nothing tastes good, or at least okay. Seriously terrible. The fish look like clay and taste extremely unfresh. The rice is incredibly huge, which is the largest I’ve ever seen in a sushi place. If you love rice or molded fish this is the place for you. Just worst. Don’t waste your money or time seriously. I have had a lot of good sushi in Reno. I can’t tell you how regret I chose to try this place. Service is bad too.

The sushi had a lot of rice. I loved the environment and the sushi chef’s. The servers were on point. They kept checking in on us throughout the night. The mussles we’re missing the shell and juice. Miso soup was nice and hot. I could tell it was freshly made. The nigiri had way to much rice but it was nice they gave you four pieces per order. We loved the war roll. Everything else was simple. Small menu. Thank you for the experience.

I feel bad saying this, but this is truly the worst sushi restaurant I’ve ever visited. The rice ratio is outrageous, the rolls are oversized to the point of being nearly impossible to eat, and the dryness makes them difficult to even chew. To make matters worse, every roll is drenched in a sweet-and-sour–style sauce that completely overwhelms the flavors and is honestly off putting.

They also got our order wrong and still insisted we either eat it or be charged. When we requested a corrected order, the server questioned whether we planned to finish what was already on our plates before he would even put it in. The entire experience came across as excessively money driven.

I genuinely wish I had read the reviews beforehand.
