A reliably good Japanese sushi restaurant. Pricing is very reasonable, especially during Happy Hour. Love their seared Albacor Salad, its so perfectly dressed and amazing value for what you get. Also had Albacor Lovers Roll along with some other sushi “passionate something” roll that was fantastic. Decent glass of Merlot at $5.99. For some reason the place was unusually empty today; hopefully the economy doesn’t impact this place too much as it’s always worth a visit and provides good value.

The dining experience at this establishment was underwhelming and failed to justify its higher price point given the quality and value of the food. The sushi offerings were satisfactory at best, though their pricing was relatively reasonable when compared to the entrees and other menu items, which felt overpriced for the caliber of the cuisine. Service was notably slow, with staff overlooking parts of our order and taking an excessive amount of time to address the oversight, which further diminished the overall experience.
This restaurant appears to be an overhyped local sushi spot that lacks authenticity, as evidenced by the absence of Japanese staff and any genuine cultural ambiance, such as traditional music or decor. Instead, the atmosphere feels generic and uninspired, falling short of the expectations set by its reputation. Overall, the experience did not meet the standards one would expect from a venue positioning itself as a premier dining destination.

The food is great. We always go to Sumo specially on Sundays after church. We have been going to Sumo since it was open in Ventura , California. The service is always geat. Jonathan, the waiter is wonderful. My 2 year old grandson loves Sumo’s avocado sushi. Jonathan, waiter for 14 years in Sumo , Ventura has an excellent customer service He is always asking how the customer are doing if they need anything. Always has a smile. You can really enjoy your food when somebody cares for their customer.

Very popular place, we arrived at 5:30 on Monday and they had almost a full seating. The rolls are average in quality, falling apart when you eat them, but the fish is fresh. I don’t recommend the seafood soba, I didn’t like it. The staff is pleasant, polite, serving quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately, the food is not very tasty.

We come at least four a month plus on special occasions. I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden the manager has made it to where we won’t be coming anymore. We had been coming here for 4 years.
Loved their happy hour specials and the food is still great.
The manager made a new “rule” stating that parties couldn’t be seated until everyone showed up.
I don’t know why and when I tried to ask her she rolled her eyes at me.
I was stunned. After coming for so long and giving rave reviews, what happened?
Well, this has happened twice now.
I still love the food and the waitresses but I don’t like feeling uncomfortable because of the manager. No need for such rudeness.
Were going to find a new spot who wants our business.
Warning: don’t try to come early. Wait till your whole party arrives. It you’ll be left standing even if tables are open.
Previously; Today our server Linda,sat us at the sushi bar.
Same great food and service as always. We are fairly regulare here now.
Become here on the regular.

I often have a doctor appointment nearby and as I’m walking out I can smell the food and it always makes me hungry even if I’ve just eaten.
The place is always slamming, it’s just that good.
I’ve been coming here for about 3 years and had most of the rules in Bento boxes.
I love them all. And they’re spicy garlic edamame is so delicious.

I found this sushi place locally and decided to give it a try since they had some good reviews on Yelp but not so good on Yelp but still wanted to give it a try. I have to agree with the Yelpers that 3 stars is more than enough.
They have happy hour everyday from 3-6 PM and 8 PM to close everyday even on the weekends

They have awesome happy hour every day 3-6pm and 8:00-close. Everything on the HH menu is basically under $10 – even my delicious sake cocktail. Their salmon crunch roll and Laker roll (basically its a jalapeno popper made into a sushi roll- even has raw white fish on top) are up there on my list of favorites. I always order the Sensual Pleasure roll and it was great to see it on the happy hour menu. I eat here probably at least twice a month. Makes me so happy!

Wow aside from their awesome HH menu, their lunch menu are excellent deals, so much food we had to get togo boxes. Salad dressing was sooo goood, our server Chris is top notch! We brought in a cake and they kept in the fridge while we ate and gave us serving plates too when we were ready for it!

Restaurant is small and can’t accommodate a lot of people so arrive early for happy hour. Ours was party of 10, got here at 7:30, waited for more than an hour so they could group a few tables together to accommodate our party, by then we were famished – docked 1 star for lack of initiative to seat our party – there was a tent for outdoor seating, but hostess said they don’t have enough servers so instead they made us wait 1+ hour, with 4 kids under 6.
Once seated and orders place, they arrived pretty quickly. Edamame to the rescue – prevented a lot of hangers and meltdowns. My neighbor recommended the Mexican roll, my husband and I enjoyed it so much that we ordered another. Spicy tuna salad was a huge disappointment – salad was drenched with very salty dressing, I was just too famished to complain, definitely not worth the price even though the server says it was good. My husband loved the California roll and did not care too much about the Philadelphia roll. The sesame was sooo goood and the kids love it as much as the adults.
We would come again to try other items but definitely no big groups next time.

One of the few places left where the food is reasonably priced and I leave feeling full. And its super tasty I recommend the Bento box $14 at lunch comes with soup and salad 2 entrees couple of sushi edamami(sp) and dumplings.
