Thank you again Luiselle for helping us have a memorable Valentine’s Day.
The overall decor is elegant and elevates the experience. I will go back to try more of the menu which is small, but well thought out.
I have also enjoyed their happy hour in recent visits.
Great ambiance and date night spot!
Update: Had three dishes pictured tonight and it was so delicious again. The Crème Brûlée crust was !!
The scones were tender and fluffy, and the chocolate croissant was so good it didn’t last long enough for a photo. Flaky, buttery, and perfectly sweet. The Croque Madame was a standout, easily earning 5 stars.
I can’t wait to return once regular Sunday brunch becomes available. Highly recommended!
It’s been awhile since I’ve walked into a restaurant that afforded a most captivating sensory experience, like the one I had at “The Heron Bistro” in Michigan City, IN.
The spectacular mural of the namesake Heron takes center stage upon entering. Flooded with natural light, against a gorgeous palette of colors, the front room dazzles with a true Parisian style sophistication that beckons one to come closer and that is precisely what we did.
The perspective shifts as the eye follows the uber elegant bar back to the Dining Room. The seduction continues all along the way with the swanky appointments and the handsome color spectrum that the minimalist interior design of the space embodies.
Nostalgia struck me as the echoes of times past, where style and panache were the order of the day. I was thrilled to see and experience it recreated once again in this space.
By this time, we were in all “in” and ready for drinks and dinner. We perused the menu and started the evening off with delectable cocktails crafted by Nick and noshed on Fois Gras Pate, Eschargot de
Bourgogne and the Pea and Pear Salad. While I can only speak for the the first two, I enjoyed them both tremendously.
Moving on to dinner, there was absolutely no doubt in mind that I was having one of my all time favorites, Beef Bourguignon! When it arrived at our table, there were oohs and aahs aplenty and immediate requests to try my dish. Of course, I obliged as it was so delicious that I couldn’t help but share my good fortune with my friends. The Chicken Provencal and a special Duck feature were also enjoyed at my table
After a brief respite, we indulged in a delicious cup of Cappuccino, along with Creme Brulee and an incredible house made ice cream that was delightful to say the least.
Our server, Nick, was professional, attentive and an excellent mixologist. *****Service!
Kudos to you, Heather Nath, for your esthetic inspiration in creating, “The Heron Bistro.” It is truly a work of art, in and of itself. Congratulations to you on the accomplishment of this long time aspiration that has come to fruition for you, for it is truly, “Tres’ Magnifique!”
The crème brûlée was a wonderful end to our meal.
We highly, highly recommend The Heron Bistro.
It is an excellent addition to Michigan City’s restaurant scene.
