Nice location and ambiance. Lovely layout with great decor and two nice large bars inside and out. Not many TVs as a sports bar and the pillars block many of them. The menu has promise but lacks staples like chicken tenders and the cheese fries use nacho cheese boo. I did enjoy the urinals which are beer kegs with a side cut open. The grilled cheese with bacon was great.

So Dalton’s Sports Grill ended up being such a pleasant surprise. When you first pull in, the beautiful barnstyle building really stands out it has that warm, rustic look that makes you want to walk inside and stay a while. Even though the parking lot wasn’t packed and the place wasn’t too busy, the atmosphere still felt welcoming, and the service moved way faster than I expected. No long waits, no chaos, just smooth and easy.
Their menu has a huge variety, which I appreciated. I originally walked in fully planning to order wings, but the wraps caught my eye. I ended up getting one, and honestly, it was the right choice everything tasted fresh, not greasy or thrown together. You can tell they actually care about the quality of what they’re serving.
The onion rings were nextlevel thick, crispy, perfectly breaded, and full of flavor without being too oily. They honestly stole the show. And the Southwest egg rolls… I don’t care what you came there for, these are a MUST. Crunchy on the outside, flavorful and packed on the inside easily something I’d go back for on their own. Dalton’s felt like a hidden gem: beautiful building, quick service, fresh food, and standout appetizers. I’d definitely go back.

Daltons Sports Grill in Green Cove Springs, FL is a hidden gem. It has all kinds of fun southern food but my favorite part is how they decorated the place. It is very country cabin like. There is not much there that I can eat because I am gluten free and most of the food is fried but I had a burger with no bun and it was good.

Take out order. Ordered Hamburgers (different types), Sliders, boneless wings. Total round up $75.00. We ordered the burgers cooked medium. They were so dry. Hard, and tasteless. Mostly not eaten. The sweet potato fries were disgustingly prepared. Regular fries soggy, dark, look liked cooked in old grease. Boneless wings so hard kids could eat them.

Had to wait 40 minutes there, paste the time we were told to pick up our order. Sat there and listened to the hostess whine about having to miss the Georgia/Florida game today, because she had to work; and she had made other plans. Been so disappointed in Dalton’s the last several time we’ve eaten there.

I do not normally leave reviews, but if my experience tonight can save someone their time and money, I’m happy to share it: do not waste your time.

When I first walked in, my instinct was to leave, but through word of mouth from someone I trust, I decided to stay. It took about 5–10 minutes for our server to greet us. When she took our order, I mentioned that it was our first time there and asked a few questions about the food before placing our order.

After about 20 minutes, I had to stop another server to ask where our appetizer was. Our server then came over and apologized, saying she forgot to place the order but that she wouldn’t charge us for it.

About 5 minutes later, the shrimp dinner and burger came out, and we were told the beef tips would follow once they were ready. Another 5 minutes later they arrived. The beef tips were seasoned well, but unfortunately they were room temperature. The brown gravy tasted like it came from a jar, and the rice was cold.

We then asked for ketchup and barbecue sauce, which took almost 15 minutes to be brought to us. This only happened because the server happened to see us looking for her and realized, once again, that she had forgotten about us.

At first, I thought maybe we had just caught them on a bad night. However, after speaking with the manager and explaining to the server that a simple apology can go a long way, I realized I was wasting my breath as I was met with little more than “yes” and “okay.”

They offered to comp the order, but I told them I would like to pay for something. The manager said she would at least give a discount, which you can see reflected on the receipt.

Unfortunately, I will not be returning. I’d rather spend the extra time, money, and gas going somewhere I know my service is welcome, the food is great, and the employees actually care.

A few months back ordered some gizzards which had gone up tremendously since my first few times dining here. I kid you not there were about 10 gizzards if that for $12.45. I decided to give them one more try because the gizzards are tasty just not paying that amount for the portion I received. This time around the portion was better but I eat one and had this awful taste I immediately spit it out and it’s some sort of green something mixed in. Not sure if that one was bad or if it wasn’t properly cleaned either way I couldn’t finish the rest. My husband also order 20 Caribbean Jerk wings they were decent but as he got to the bottom layer of wings they were literally sitting in grease which I know grease is expected but not a cup full. Why plate someone’s food knowing the grease wasn’t properly drained off the chicken ? Not sure if we’ll be back and although we love to support local businesses these types of experiences makes it hard to do! I did post photos from both times we ordered.

It was recommended to me to come here for wings while visiting the area. Being from WI, the menu had multiple items I was not familiar with but my bartender was able to explain all the options upon request. I was told this was the place for wings and that recommendation did not disappoint. Even taking them to-go, the wings were big, juicy and the flavors were amazing. I also got the corn nuggets which I thought would be strips of corn on the cob and ended up being more deep fried sweet corn but were still very good. I plan on returning Friday for the Gator Tail that they were out of today.

Update for Friday: apparently 6:30 is too late of an arrival time for the Gator, which is unfortunate with a Wednesday delivery. I got the blackened Mahi Mahi to-go which was good, nothing particularly wowing about it. The bartenders and patrons were very nice and welcoming.

First, I always want to compliment the service staff. Emma did a fantastic job taking care of our every need. A very sweet young lady and she knew how to treat us well. Excellent customer service and took exceptional care of our every need.
The food was superior to most restaurants we have eaten at lately. The fried green tomatoes are as good as my MoMA made and the best I have had in any restaurant lately. The fish & shrimp & clam strips was so fresh and delicious. My husband and I both were amazed. Highly recommend the seafood platter on their Saturday special. Drove over an hour to eat at another restaurant but changed our mind. My husband had eaten here years ago and told me he wanted to try it again so we left the other restaurant and drove 30 more minutes to Dalton’s and I was so happy. My husband knows I love art, no matter where it is at because painting and carving is a talent. He told me you are going to love the art on the walls and he was so right. The atmosphere was perfect southern hospitality at its best. If you are ready to go somewhere different and just relax with a cold drink and get some amazing food, Dalton’s is the place to go. Ask for Emma, she is awesome!

I want to start this by saying I have no complaints about my server. She was kind, attentive, and welcoming. She did her job well.

Might be a new spot but the service is still slow and the food still blows, unfortunately. Really wanted to love it, but our burgers were so dang dry they put Popeyes biscuits to shame. Burnt (not in a good way) and no condiments on them made them so dry it was hard to eat. I am not one to complain about food. I can count on one hand how many bad reviews I’ve written for food but this truly was by far the worst burger I have ever had. As if the food wasn’t enough, it took FOREVER. I can be patient, especially if the restaraunt is super busy but we waited almost an hour for two crappy burgers, a wrap, and a kids grilled cheese. We were all absolutely starving and by the time the food came, our baby was screaming and we had to scarf it down and leave, otherwise we would have spoken to a manager. We didn’t have time to go anywhere else or wait for a remake. Just had to deal with the crap food and count it as a loss. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.

TL;DR: The “big city” flagship has officially fallen off. Stick to the newer Sky D’s in the small town—they actually care. Dalton’s gave us a 45-minute wait for two burnt/raw burgers in a 2/3rd empty restaurant, zero refills despite eye contact from four different servers, and a manager who “ghosted” our table. First time I haven’t tipped in two years. Absolute 1-star service and zero management.

I’ve been a loyal fan of their newer, small-town location, Sky D’s, for a long time. They’re excellent. I figured the original, larger Dalton’s in the city would be the gold standard, but I was wrong. The student has officially surpassed the teacher, because Dalton’s has become a sinking ship of indifference.

We walked in during peak lunch hours to a 2/3rd empty dining room. We stood for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Once seated, it took 10 minutes just to get two teas. That was the last time we saw a server for 45 minutes. Despite a 2:1 ratio of tables to waitresses, we were treated like we were invisible. I watched four different servers “buzz” past our table, making direct eye contact with my empty glass, and not one of them lifted a finger.

The kitchen is even worse. After a 35-minute wait for two simple cheeseburgers, they arrived charred to a literal crunch on the outside, yet remained reddish-pink and raw on the inside. The fries were soggy and limp. It takes a special kind of “talent” to burn and undercook a patty at the same time.

When I finally flagged someone down to ask for a manager, the waitress looked annoyed I was even bothering her. She said she’d get one—the manager never showed up.

In my 25 years of life, I have rarely seen such entitled, disorganized staff and nonexistent management. I haven’t walked out of a restaurant without tipping in two years; congratulations to Dalton’s for being the place to finally reset that clock.

Don’t waste your time or your money here. If you want a good meal and actual service, make the drive to the smaller Sky D’s. At least they still care. Dalton’s is clearly just resting on a name they no longer live up to.
