Authentic Yemeni Cuisine at Al-Rayan Restaurant in Indy
Reviews
The prices are very fair, especially for the quality and portions you get. The atmosphere is clean and spacious, though fairly simple and nothing fancy. The service is fine. It is polite and efficient, but not especially memorable.
Still, the food is what matters most here. It is delicious, dependable, and worth coming back for again and again. If you care more about flavor than frills, Al-Rayan delivers every time.
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, and parking is easy to find. Many diners appreciate the fresh and hearty portions at reasonable prices along with the friendly service.
A few improvements could make the experience even better, such as more consistent service speed and attention to detail during busy periods. Some visitors mention that food can take time to arrive and that service quality varies at times.
Overall, Al-Rayan is a solid choice if you’re looking for authentic halal Middle Eastern cuisine in Indianapolis with flavorful dishes and a relaxed environment. I would recommend trying their signature rice dishes and mixed grill
About 15 minutes later, we had to call the host (who also seemed to be the server) just to ask for water. It arrived 5 minutes later in a plastic cup. The food took a very long time, and when it finally came, it was extremely oily and didn’t taste good. The only positive was that the chicken was tender.
The restroom was dirty, full of flies, and some stalls were out of toilet paper. Overall, the service was poor, the food was disappointing, and the atmosphere was unpleasant. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Really good, would recommend.
I am very disappointed with this restaurant. The bathroom was extremely dirty and honestly disgusting. It did not feel clean or cared for at all.
The food was also very bad this time. They used to cook good rice, but today it was terrible. The taste was off and not fresh. Also, the portion sizes keep changing every time we come. It’s very inconsistent.
The worst part was the service. The host was also serving tables, and her attitude was very rude. She was not polite and did not handle the situation professionally. When her coworker said he would replace the food, she came back and said they don’t have the other rice — but they actually do have it. That felt dishonest and very frustrating.
Overall, the cleanliness, food quality, and especially the rude service made this a very bad experience. I will not be returning.
They are truly professionals in making delicious food, with flavors that stand out. The rice is magical, full of rich, aromatic spices that make every meal unforgettable. The portions are generous, and the food is always fresh and flavorful.
I would just recommend them to renew and clean their restrooms, as that would make the dining experience even better. But overall, this place is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic, flavorful halal food in Indianapolis!
Although we had to eat in the car because of the strong smell of detergent, this restaurant is still one of the best options for me.
the chicken over rice is so flavorful and the chicken was so soft and juicy
the gyro wrap packed a bunch of flavor and honestly great portions for the price
Highly recommended!
The Arab culture known for generosity but here I did not feel that for a couple of things.
First, there was no welcoming drinks, appetizer, or even water.
Second, the food portions were small.
That’s why I gave you 4 stars instead of 5.
I’ll come back again and I hope next time everything gets better.
