Wine was great, cocktail excellent, and apps were superb. The artichokes were inventive and tasty and the garlic bread (pictured) is a must-order item, and would easily satisfy 4 people.
We ordered the whole trout and the lobster and crab fra diavolo. The trout was absolutely incredible and cooked to perfection. Fish can be a risk, but this dish was perfect. Whole fish, cleaned, deboned, cooked in its skin, and it was moist and tasty.
The lobster and crab fra diavolo (facebook ad version pictured, not what I received) was a massive disappointment. We ordered it in part off the picture and description (A coastal classic with a fiery twist) but it came out fully tossed in their thicker red sauce, zero presentation, indiscernible from bowl of spaghetti, no garnish, and with *literally* no spice whatsoever. Taste was as bland as bland could be. A true FD should be thinner and spicier and the seafood should shine, like the picture shows. The lobster pieces were tasty, but the crab was nowhere to be found or tasted, and the dish really flopped. Whoever was cooking really couldn’t have done a worse job and my hope is that this was a fluke.
I would have said something but really didn’t have a chance. The waiter checked on us immediately but I hadn’t taken a bite yet and didn’t want to gripe about presentation, then by the time we saw him again (appropriately) we were pretty much through. It was a great evening otherwise so I let it go, plus he was an excellent waiter.
I will say they have an awesome looking menu with a lot of interesting choices. There are multiple items there I hope to try sometime.
The food was prepared with care and finesse, from the caesar salad (which was easily the best I’ve ever had) to the garlic bread to the entree. The chef is a genius.
The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, and our server Diana seemed to genuinely love her work.
If you are ever in Rehoboth Beach, treat yourself to top notch Italian fare at DiFebo’s. You’ll be glad you did.
The broccolini – deliciously cooked – tender and lightly seasoned, topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. Use the hot, fresh bread and some olive oil to soak up every bit.
Linguine with roasted eggplant – great for those seeking a meatless dish.
The chicken marsala- a large succulent chicken breast – not fried- covered with portobello and other luscious mushrooms.
The Monday Madness star was the dessert Triple Chocolate Cake Crumble.
Another dessert, from the regular menu, the olive oil cake – warm and topped with homemade blood orange sorbet – was a wonderful ending to a lovely meal.
