If you’re looking to waste your money on a buffet experience that will leave you utterly defeated, then you’ve found the perfect place! I recently returned to this establishment, and my hopes of a decent meal were not just dashed; they were annihilated. The prices have shot up like a rocket, but the quality of the food has plummeted to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
Let’s talk about the so-called “food.” The fried shrimp must have been a former life form, because it tasted like an archaeological dig in my mouth—dry, brittle, and utterly flavorless. As for the “fried rice,” it appeared to be nothing more than some bland, parboiled rice that someone had haphazardly tossed a few questionable bits into. Most of the dishes on the buffet were stone-cold, a chilling testament to either utter neglect or a complete disregard for food safety.
Do yourself a favor and keep driving. Save your taste buds and your wallet by heading across the street to the place they now call Shanghai. I’ve only been there once, but it was miles better than this culinary crapshoot.
If you’re in the mood for a good quality buffet, look somewhere else, and don’t come back here.
To the credit of the server and hibachi guy, the service isn’t bad or anything. The atmosphere rating is because the place was deserted and all the food looked visibly old and dehydrated, soups looking congealed and nasty, and the sushi rice being crunchy and dried out. The actual facility is nice enough looking.
Let’s start with the automatic gratuity. We were not informed that gratuity would be automatically added to our bill. We only realized it after doing our own calculations while deciding what tip to leave. This kind of policy should be clearly disclosed upfront. It also removes the customer’s ability to reward great service or withhold a tip for poor service, since the staff gets it automatically regardless of performance.
Now, about the food. There seemed to be more meat options this time, which was nice. The first batch of mussels was actually good, fresh and flavorful. However, when they brought out the next batch, it tasted completely different, almost like it had been sitting too long or cooked differently. Some of the other meat options were also quite dry on the inside and hard to swallow, though they still had decent flavor. But flavor alone can’t save a dish when you’re struggling to get it down.
Our server was attentive and kind, especially since it wasn’t too busy at the time. Her service really helped make the experience more pleasant, and I do appreciate her effort.
Unfortunately, the sushi was the dealbreaker. The first round of salmon sushi was decent, but when they refilled it, the new pieces had bones in every single one. That’s unacceptable. It shows careless preparation and a lack of quality control in the kitchen, and it’s honestly a safety concern for diners.
Overall, I’d give half a star for our server’s attentiveness, but the rest of the experience, from undisclosed gratuity to inconsistent food quality and bone filled sushi, ruined the meal for us. Sadly, I can’t recommend Toyosu Buffet to my friends or family anymore.
Nothing has changed much since my last review. You pay before sitting and eating, kids 3 and under eat for free. Restrooms are located at the front as well.
Selections are still the same, noodle and ramen bar which is not good. No chicken wings, no ice-cream and everything is just mediocre.
Service is slow and the restaurant was empty on a Sunday afternoon.
I wouldn’t come here again, the buffets have really gone down in value and quality.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
This new buffet just opened up and we decided to try it out since it had some new components that the other buffets didn’t have and that was noodle soups! You pay before you are seated and it’s at $27.99 per person on Sundays and all evenings which is very pricey for a buffet. Unfortunately, it disappointed and it disappointed at such a high price. The noodle and soups were okay, it was poorly labeled as well as rest of the other food. Ice-cream was not self serve so if there wasn’t an employee behind the counter, you would have to go find them or not get served at all. It was chaotic and the service was okay, I believe Hibachi is still the better of all buffets in the area and for a cheaper price so don’t pay the high price that I did and go elsewhere!
