Our crew of 6 was pretty disappointed in each meal we received. Appetizers – southwest eggrolls were good, shrimp was good except the batter separated from the shrimp. We killed it though.
Downfall – main course!! Ugh
Salmon – bad, pasta – overcooked with literally zero seasoning, wings – undercooked sent them back to cook longer, Brocolli – too much with an attempt to fill uo the salmon plate and zero seasoning. Waffle fries – harder than old hush puppies, drinks – nice, burger for a child – dang near burned, he ate the sides of the burger.
Service – pretty fast and polite 8/10
Had to ask for a couple things twice.
Atmosphere- 9/10 Very nice, ample TVs, nice bar. I love that they have high top, booth, and table settings.
Shockingly had a lot of seating even on a Sunday game day! Could have a much larger crowd if food gets entrees get revamped.
We were eating dessert to fill us up!

They were super helpful in planning a party for my daughters birthday. They let me pre-order pizzas and had them out for the kids within the minutes of us arriving. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. I really appreciated all of their hard work in making the party a success. The food was great as well!

We hosted an event at Joe Kools. The venue was clean and comfortable. The owner, Sam was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent, nothing but good reviews from our guests. Our Waitresses, Sara and Samantha, I can’t say enough about. They were personable and outgoing. They were on point, making sure everyone got what they wanted. I highly recommend.

Yesterday I was there and ordered some shrimp with broccoli, and I was disappointed. They took a long time to bring the order and well, the food was terrible. There were 6 shrimp and the sauce was horrible, pure oil, and the broccoli was super hard and tasteless. They never removed the plates from the table. I would not go back nor do I recommend it.

We used to love the original Joe kools before someone else bought it and changed the whole atmosphere. They used to have a great chef and good food at reasonable prices and silly fun signs around the restaurant. Several years ago we went to this newer version that has no atmosphere unless you like sitting around a bunch of TVs. I can’t remember what we even ordered because it was not memorable and it was way overpriced. We thought we’d try it again tonight since we went to church and it was late and we were hungry, and no one greeted us or tried to seat us until finally a waitress did help us with cleaning up a table but never came back to wipe it off or actually sit us down. We got tired of waiting for her to come back so we just left. After reading all the bad reviews on here, I would never ever go back there and can’t understand why the owner doesn’t look at these reviews and comment on them. It seems like he must not really care The prices are way too high and I guess they charge for side of ranch dressing to go with fries or whatever and it’s definitely not a $0.50 charge- it’s much much higher! Also people complaining about a rude waitress who doesn’t even say hi or introduce herself and then throws down your bill at the end. Also people talking about a very rude older female bartender- don’t know how this place can stay open! We came here after checking out Olga’s next door and left there also because a strange cook came out and started talking about not grilling any chicken and I couldn’t even understand what he was saying LOL. Then the next woman who came out to talk to us had no teeth -what a scary place that was! All the good places in Troy are closing– I really miss Bonefish Grill and Bahama Breeze!

I recently hosted an event at Joe Kools Of Troy & everything / everyone exceeded my expectations. The management & staff were easy to work with, knowledgeable, & very on top of things. The catering we ordered for the event was great. I would highly recommend Joe Kools for an event of any size. All food & drinks ordered were amazing & the prices were very reasonable.

Kristen was a great server! She and the bartender were very accommodating to my needs! She made a strawberry lemonade for me.
I love the Wisconsin cheeses curds. Large portion is great for sharing. I enjoyed the Southern fried chicken salad.

I have never left a bad review anywhere and will usually only leave a review if it’s positive but this place was so awful I had to. I was there with a group of 6 who are all well mannered and easy going. The food was flavorless and half the dishes were incorrect. You would think we’d tell the server but she only showed up an hour later to give us the bill (the restaurant was barely half full and they had more than enough staff). Come to find out they auto tip themselves 20% on every bill so no wonder she didn’t care she was getting paid regardless. We assumed the wet footprints on the floor was from the snow outside but we quickly realized it was from the men’s bathroom which had piss all over the ground when we walked in and wasn’t cleaned the entire time we were there despite us saying something to management. I have zero plans on going back. Easily the worst place I’ve ever been to in Michigan and possibly ever.

Absolutely unacceptable experience from start to finish. The service was a complete mess—our food took well over an hour to arrive, and no one seemed to care or offer an explanation. On top of that, the servers were drinking behind the bar, which is beyond unprofessional and honestly alarming. When we complained, a man named Sam came over and claimed to be the owner. Instead of taking responsibility or trying to fix anything, he was rude, dismissive, and made it clear that our concerns meant nothing to him. The lack of accountability and basic respect was shocking. This place clearly doesn’t value its customers. With so many far better restaurants in the Troy area, there’s zero reason to waste your time or money here. We will never be back.
