Never been to Walter’s before we stopped in last night about 4 o’clock for an early dinner
We got the fried haddock and the fried scallops and split Caesar salad.
Everything was delicious, including the hibiscus margarita that I had.

me and my partner came to Holderness school for homecoming weekend and proctor day and decided to try Walter’s on this past Friday night as I remembered coming here when I was in school at Holderness. Everything from the food, to the service to the atmosphere was amazing. We had the sticky ribs to start and then i had the duck and my partner had the braised short ribs. It was some of the best dishes we have ever had. We also had the bread pudding and the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert which both were fabulous. It was so good we decided to comeback this evening. We were, once again, blown away. The staff had remembered us, which made us feel recognized and valued as a guest and then the food was spectacular. The second time we started with the French onion soup which was very cheesy and flavourful! For our mains, my partner had the same braised beef but I tried the chicken Milanese which we loved ! and then we finished with the chocolate torte and the bread pudding again because it was just so good! I could write so much more about how we enjoyed the place, although I will summarize it as a wonderful dining experience with great food, great ambiance and excellent service. Definitely worth the experience!

Beautiful view of the lake and fall foliage. We only meant to stop by for drinks and nibble, but the special mushroom ravioli with the butternut squash sauce was so delish that we ordered another round. We also got the beet salad that was lovely and perfectly lightly sauced that one could still enjoy the taste of the lettuce. Cocktails were ok. Chef was fantastic though and would def go back for more if we lived closer (last time I had been there was 10 years ago, and food was def better this time). Waitstaff was also kind and helpful.

I had lunch with my folks over the weekend, we had a beautiful seat on the water but inside, it was perfect atmosphere, very clean, slightly modern, but great view.
The service was excellent, very attentive and nice and she went out of her way to get me a gluten free fish sandwich and they fried the fish in a pan for me, but it was terrible, really dry, they shouldn’t offer that anymore .. my mother’s pork sandwich looked good, she loved it, my dad’s burger looked great, I wish I had gotten that.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. I forgot to snap my photo before starting my sandwich so excuse the bites – but it was so good I wanted to grab a photo to share. I got the chicken cereal salad wrap and it was perfect. My kids split a kids burger and it was gone before I got a photo! The fries were delicious and their freshly baked bread was excellent. Rania our server was delightful and attentive. Highly recommend stopping here if in the area. The views from the tables are great also.

We came for the first time on a Saturday evening in late August. The restaurant is right on Squam Lake with great views. We decided to eat in the bar because we didn’t want to wait 20 minutes for a table.
We ordered the haddock bites appetizer on special. It was delicious, flaky, slightly spicy with a creamy aioli. Entrees were a pork schnitzel, and the lamb, both were perfect. The server was attentive and personable. Drinks were average.
I’ll definitely go back, later in the evening, hopefully avoiding the children in the bar.

Nice lakeside restaurant with plenty of windows for views. We had the seafood paella and it was delicious. We had about a half hour wait to be seated on a gloomy Sunday evening, so I imagine on a nice sunny day the wait can be a bit longer. Parking can also be tricky to find. Overall it was a lovely spot for a great meal and I would happily come back again.
