Me and my friends were visiting Chicago, so we tried this restaurant and overall it turned out to be a good spot to try. The mutton appetizer ( Talawa Gosht ) was very flavorful, with tender meat that really stood out. The chicken and gobi appetizers were not that great, and the food coloring could be toned down a bit.
The paneer biryani felt more like paneer fried rice, but the flavor and taste were still good. On the other hand, the chicken biryani was spot on and came very close to authentic Hyderabadi chicken dum biryani.
When it comes to desserts, they truly shine. While the double ka meetha was quite disappointing, the fruit and dry fruit truffle was absolutely AMAZING and a definite must-try.
Overall, it’s a good place for food with several standout dishes. With a little more attention to hygiene, this restaurant could be even better.

Tawakkul Restaurant, Chicago is pure Hyderabadi soul food. Tried the tahari, mutton biryani, and haleem, and the haleem + tahari absolutely stole the show. Deep flavors, perfectly cooked, and insanely satisfying.

The service was on point, warm and welcoming, and the whole experience straight-up felt like Hyderabad. If you know, you know. This spot is a must for anyone chasing real Hyderabadi taste in Chicago.

Tawakkul Restaurant on Devon Avenue is one of the worst food experiences I’ve had in Chicago. The food quality was very poor, the taste was disappointing, and the hygiene standards did not seem acceptable.

I would strongly advise Indian and people from other countries not to visit this restaurant. There are many better options on Devon Avenue with good food and service. This place did not meet basic expectations.

I ordered a goat biriyani from this restaurant 3rd time, last two times I am unhappy with the less amount of meat and more bones. This time literally I swear all of them are bones as shown in the picture. As a repeat customer waiting for an hour this is terrible Experience. I called them immediately and Mohamed lift the call and says next time I order they will take care of it. That does’t sounds promising and it’s a very very bad experience.

The food was absolutely delicious, which is why the place tends to get quite busy at times. Because of its popularity, you might experience a bit of a rush during peak hours, so it’s a good idea to plan your visit accordingly. The quality of the food definitely makes the wait worthwhile. On top of that, the owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall great dining experience. Their warm hospitality makes you feel comfortable and appreciated as a guest.

Went here for a late-night dinner around 11pm, and it was surprisingly busy for that time of the day.

We ordered the Chicken 65 and Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani. The biryani was definitely on the greasier side, but taste-wise, it was absolutely mind-blowing. Honestly reminded me of the ones I’ve had back home in Hyderabad, so major points for that. They had fried chicken pieces on top, which I felt were a bit extra, but still good.

The Chicken 65 had great flavor too (again a little greasy) and was slightly low on salt for my liking, but overall, it was decent and enjoyable.

For dessert, I personally wanted the Kaddu ki Kheer. It was not bad, but not amazing too. I’ve had better ones before.

The server strongly recommended we try their Fruit Trifle. Even though we were already stuffed, we just ordered it and wow, I’m glad we did. It was creamy, rich, and just packed with all the fruity, custardy goodness. I legit couldn’t stop at just one bite. Definitely one of the best things.

Service was quick. Nothing fancy in terms of ambience; it’s more of a casual place, but you can totally check it out for the food. Would recommend it if you’re craving Hyderabadi flavors in Chicago.

Not satisfied with the food. Too oily and paratas are too thick. Added so much color in chinna Tikka. Mutton boriyani was good. I felt everything was a little bit salty. Taste was just okay.

The food was not good, every single dish in the buffet yesterday tasted bad. I wouldn’t recommend eating here. Even though there was plenty of food in front of me, I wasn’t interested in eating it.

I’ve ordered biryani here a couple of times over the past few months and I’ve never been disappointed. Their chicken biryani and chicken 65 are top notch – so authentic and reminds me of the biryani we had at Hotel Niagara, Alpha hotel, bawarchi growing up in hyd. Tried their Chinese food once but it didn’t taste nice so I think I’ll just stick to getting what they do best – proper hyderabadi cuisine. Will try their Haleem next!
