Reviews
This is a very decent destination for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality coastal cuisine in a beautiful setting. The restaurant sits in a prime location that offers nice views if you are lucky enough to be seated outside on the patio, making it a perfect spot for a sunset dinner or a breezy lunch. The overall experience is polished, and the kitchen delivers tasty and flavorful dishes that justify its reputation as a local staple.
Exceptional Poke Nachos and Fish Quality
The highlight of the meal for us was undoubtedly the seafood.
Good Fish: It’s clear that they prioritize freshness here. As someone who pays close attention to the quality of the catch, I found the fish to be excellent—clean, bright, and perfectly prepared.
Poke Nachos: These were really good and lived up to the recommendation. The balance of the fresh ahi tuna with the crisp wontons and toppings made for a great start to the meal.
Consistent Flavor: Beyond the appetizers, the main dishes are all tasty. Whether you are going for their signature salmon or a different seafood plate, the seasoning is on point and the portions are satisfying.
✨ Reliable Service and Easy Logistics
The operational side of the restaurant is well-handled, which adds a lot to the value of the visit.
Pretty Good Service: The service is pretty good and attentive. We felt well-taken care of throughout the night, and the staff was professional even during the busier turns.
Convenient Parking: One of the most practical benefits of this location is the convenient parking garage. In an area like Del Mar where street parking can be a nightmare, having a dedicated garage makes the logistics of your visit “ezpz.”
Ambiance: The atmosphere is sophisticated yet comfortable, bridging the gap between a “fancy” night out and a relaxed coastal meal perfectly.
Final Thoughts and Recap
To recap, this is a very decent 4-star experience where the good fish and tasty dishes are the stars. Between the really good poke nachos, the pretty good service, and the nice views, it’s a reliable choice for a high-quality meal. The added benefit of the convenient parking garage makes it a stress-free option for a night out. I’d definitely return for the nachos and the patio vibes!
We were seated out on their covered patio with a beautiful view of the ocean. Our waitress was good though we did have to track her down a few times.
The food was hit or miss. I thought the salmon hash was mediocre and the portion was on the small side. The Banana Foster French toast was good and was a huge portion.
The service was average at best — not overtly rude, but inattentive and uninspired. For a restaurant positioned the way this one is, you expect professionalism and energy. We got neither.
The food was the real letdown. I ordered a $40 seafood pasta that tasted like the seafood had been sitting in a freezer drawer for weeks. No freshness. No brightness. No seasoning. The pasta itself was poorly cooked — neither properly al dente nor pleasantly tender, just sloppy and forgettable. For forty dollars, that’s unacceptable.
Dessert somehow managed to be worse. The “molten” lava cakes were not molten. At all. Just regular, dry cakes with no center and no justification for the name. If you’re going to charge upscale prices, at least execute the basics.
The atmosphere didn’t help. It felt tired and underwhelming, lacking the warmth or polish you’d expect at this price point.
Overall, this was a below-average meal at premium prices. There are far better places to spend your money. I would not return, and I would not recommend
