I went to visit my friend in the area and decided to pick up lunch for us. A nice treat. My friend had mentioned she liked Micheal’s. So I stopped by and picked up a pulled pork and a brisket sandwich to go. Even though it was Sunday I was served quickly. The sandwiches were very good. They were still hot when I arrived at my destination. Thank you staff at Michael’s.

Michael’s is a gem of a restaurant. Classic American fare in a reasonably sized dining room with some really creative dishes. Our server was amazing… personable, outgoing, helpful, talking to her felt like a conversation with an old friend. Her recommendations were on point and the dishes were all amazing.
They also serve fresh baked bread and honey butter with every meal, which could be a food group itself. The entrees were delicious and while we didn’t have dessert, I bet it’s also great.

Restaurant was very clean. Wide variety of menu items. Kids menu and crayons available. I usually order the catfish with a baked potato and steamed broccoli. Food is always cooked as ordered. Servers are attentive to their tables. A reasonable wait for well prepared food. A great place for eating alone, family meal, or even a room for larger groups.

Michael’s is average. The speed of service was the best part, but the food and atmosphere were mediocre at best. The fried green tomatoes were overdone for my taste. The Cowboy Burger was a bit of a let down, as well. I left feeling like I wouldn’t go back.

Just passing thru on my way home , wife and I were getting hungry and didn’t want ‘fast food’. Saw the sign for Michael’s casual dining and decided to check it out. It was a great decision !! Order the coconut chicken tenders. It came with pina colada dipping sauce with chunks of pineapple. Very, very delicious !! Michael’s will be my go-to place when I pass thru the area again. I’m so glad I found it.

Great down home family restaurant with excellent service. Our server Peyton was fast, efficient and showed so much professionalism. I was a little concerned about flies flying around but the establishment was clean. I ordered the pulled pork platter with coleslaw and baked beans. The coleslaw was different as it had some red cabbage and a mayonnaise taste with a hint of sweetness. The beans were great and the pulled pork was good with the sauce. Also, the chicken strips looks more like filets. If it wasn’t for the sign on I-75 I would have missed this jewel.

Travelers beware, Don’t go out of your way. Bland, flavorless, dry. Worst “BBQ” brisket ever (more like dry jerky, Guga would cry) sirloin steak chewy and cooked way over what I ordered. We went off the beaten path to support an independent local restaurant but would have been better off sticking to a Texas Roadhouse or something like that. Even Cracker Barrel would have been better! Now the good: the service was nice and pleasant and quick.

Nice, peaceful time at Michael’s today. The Stroganoff was great, and the BBQ pull pork was delicious , the staff were friendly, professional, and always attentive that we had everything we needed. Love Michael’s in Athens, TN. We’ll definitely be back.

Hello folks. We were looking for someplace we hadn’t been before, and this was not too far from where we live. For those who haven’t seen any of my reviews, I don’t say much, if anything, about food or service. Enough people talk about that. I look into other things…under tables, in courners, things like that. That said, let’s get going.
This is a good, old-fashioned dinner, the kind of place where one doesn’t need to worry about taking the kids. No bar, no tv’s blaring away, just good food and service.
The dining room was clean but could use a face lift. We sat at a booth, and I noticed that if I moved forward in the seat, the back came up. This might be the way it’s supposed to be for cleaning and whatnot, I don’t know. I also noticed a good portion of the dining area is not used. That’s ok, it wasn’t needed when we were there. There is also a large area for overflow parking.
One thing definitely didn’t like is there is no hot water in the men’s room. The faucet handle just turns around and around. Don’t know about the ladies’ room hot water.
Overall, the experience was a good one. We will be going back.
Go on. Give it a try, you’ll like it.
