Ventana has been a favorite spot for me and my husband for many years as we visited Excelsior Springs, so we were thrilled when our son and his fiancé selected it as the venue for their wedding rehearsal dinner. Jill was amazing to work with and made the planning all the way from California so easy. The guests we hosted raved about the food, drinks and out of this world CHEESECAKE! We appreciated the cozy, private room and thank Jill, Valerie and the rest of the staff who took such great care of us! We live in the Northland of K.C. & have MANY restaurants to sate my palate. Ventana is now my favorite. My husband and I went for a quick get away to Excelsior on a Monday and next to nothing was open for a couple’s date night venue. The Elm’s front desk employee recommended Ventana, and I’m SO glad he did. The chicken piccata is one of the BEST Italian dishes I’ve ever had. Angie was our server and she is fantastic. We’re back home in K.C. tonight and I’m already wanting to go back and experience more of their delectable menu.

One of our favorite local places to eat. The food is consistently, great and the owners are always checking in to see if everything is to our satisfaction. Good selection of wines, and the best cheesecake around. Miss the spinach pasta, but plenty other items to chose from off the menu.

MAKE RESERVATIONS, or you might receive Poor Service as we did.
My 1 star rating is, ONLY!!!, the Poor Service, which I felt was due to being seated in the Banished Area, non reservation side. The room away from the main dinning area. We were a Unseen Patron! It took a lot of time for a server. 15 or more minutes. My opinion to long to at least acknowledge you have patrons in your serving area. We only saw our server when they brought an item we ordered. They never checked on us during our meal. When they did, it was with check in hand. Our dinner order, I feel was put behind customers with reservations, maybe why it took roughly 45 minutes. Both dinners an easy Pasta dish. Again, MAKE RESERVATIONS, !!!!, to avoid being then UNSEEN PATRON.

Super cute spot. It’s really big. Lots of seating. Waitress was nice and prompt. I didn’t feel like I had to wait ever. They have soups of the day. I got the potato one . It was amazing. Wow so good. They also came out with free bread and that was so soft and warm. Wow delicious. However I was not as impressed with the main meal. I got a Philly chicken sandwich . It was a little dry overall and lacked sauce or flavoring. The onions were not cooked too much, which personally I am not a huge fan of raw onions . It did come with chips and a pickle and you could choose a soup or salad. The portion size was plenty so that was good. Would maybe try a pasta next time instead!

Restaurant is nice, open , like an old event space. Not really a place for an intimate dinner. The food is really good but with a few refinements could be really great. The bread was light and fresh, butter served in wrappers…. I had a Caesar salad which came with the dressing on the side, typically Caesar salads are pre tossed lightly and a nice restaurant would bring some extra on the side for those who like a heavier Caesar. The parmesan was powdery, would have expected better from a place like this. I had the New Orleans Cajun chicken with spaghetti, it had good flavor with a slight kick that was not overwhelming. The grilled chicken was diced into small bites that you had to fish for; typically expect to see the chicken sliced and laid across the pasta in a nicer presentation. Finished with pecan caramel cheesecake which was exceptional.

Nice place but far from gourmet dining. My wife and I were both disappointed with the chicken. Kind of tough. We felt they were defrosted breasts from a grocery store. Cole slaw was good. Service is good. The food was mediocre.

Ventana was recommended to us by multiple shop owners downtown and even the mayor. The ambiance of this place is outstanding only to be outdone by the staff. Our waitress, Camille, was amazing and knew every detail of the menu. When the food came it was fantastic. My smothered chicken was absolutely delicious and my only regret was being too full to try the cheesecake, which I also heard rave reviews about. Two thumbs way up. We will definitely be back.

I had the whiskey flavored pork chop with sweet potatoes and zucchini. It was delicious. The service was good, they were very busy. The noise level got a little much for my hearing aids. I’ll definitely eat there again. I was pleasantly surprised.

Stopped in for lunch. We were from out of town, so this place was completely new to us. It’s very nice inside, lots of seating and the interior ceiling and walls are gorgeous. There weren’t too many people there at the time, so it was pretty quiet and laid back. The wait staff were all very helpful and friendly. None of us had a complaint about any of our food. Overall, it was a very nice lunch dine-in experience. I would absolutely come back again if we lived closer! But definitely will come here again next time I’m in town.
