Generally, I manage my expectations around AYCE sushi, because the rice & fish quality are bound to be subpar for the pricepoint. But Wasabi has a shockingly good value of $36 AYCE ($25 during lunch) with very high quality fish and seafood. Nothing we had was fishy, or overtly mushy. Their rice is pretty balanced, not over-vinegared like many places will do.
Their uni was creamy, rich, no fishy taste. Giant cuts of sashimi, good portions. They even had aburi nigiri, and raw sweet shrimp. Lots of things you wouldn’t usually see on an all you can eat menu!
Lots of other non-sushi options too. Udon, takoyaki, karaage, the works. Worth stopping by if you are having an unlimited food craving. (Though I might recommend avoiding too many spicy scallop handrolls! They’re pretty saucy.)
The good:
-Gyoza
-ALL Nigiri (Tuna was incredible here, yellowtail was delicious, good salmon, unagi needs more sauce)
-Hand rolls!!!!!! (So nice to have at ayce)
-Yellowtail Jalapeño Sashimi
-Green tea with toasted rice
-Mochi
The ‘meh’:
-Hamachi Kama (dry and needed fresh lemon)
-House Salad (thick dressing)
-L.A. Galbi (way too sweet bbq sauce)
The bad:
-Dynamite (huge portion and chewy textures)
-Tako Yaki (filled with more sour cabbage than octopus)
I’m a regular not because it’s close to home or simply convenient, but because Dillan genuinely wants me to have the best dining experience possible. That kind of care and intention makes all the difference.
Thank you, Dillan, and thank you to the entire staff at Asaki for the love, consistency, and craftsmanship you put into every dish. Blessings to all of you, and Happy New Year ❤️
I definitely recommend the seaweed salad and the spicy at edamame! For being a sushi place in Colorado. The fish is very fresh and I love it so much def some of the best sushi in Colorado.
My only complaint was the Uni (sea urchin) didn’t taste very fresh.
Everything else was amazing.
It is an amazing calm. Nice atmosphere. You get to see everybody working on your food while it’s being prepared. So you know it’s fresh and the service is amazing. Everybody is so kind.
