Nowhere in the menu did it say that it had butter. When ours dinners arrived, the stuffed shrimps were floating in butter. I have a stomach illness & cannot eat butter or I will be doubled up in pain.
So, I explained it to our waiter who turned it over to the manager, Stephanie. She came by & asked if there was anything else I would like. I asked her to order me a Calzone instead. When the bill came, I was charged for 2 “Baked Stuffed Shrimp.”
I brought it to our waiters attention that I did not eat my shrimp dinner but instead ordered a calzone. He again had to call the manager, Stephanie.
She explained that I had to pay for 2 shrimp dinners because the kitchen already made it. I argued that I would not have ordered it if it said in the menu that it was baked in butter. She then went after me for the sides. So now, I had to pay for the sides the shrimp dinner came with. I told her it still wasn’t right. She said the most she could do was remove $5 from my bill for one side.
I could not believe how Stephanie, the manager treated me. She was disrespectful & raised her voice in front of other customers. She even talked about me to the 3 men seated in the booth next to ours. It was very embarrassing.
If she made it right by charging me only for the food that we ate & not the food that I returned, I would not have written this review about the restaurant & would have gone back.
Now, I will let as many people as I know what happened, will not recommend that restaurant & will never go back.
It’s a shame that the owner will never know about this awful experience I had.
My favorite dish is their Chicken Parmesan over linguine or thin spaghetti (you have to ask for the pasta cut of your choice, otherwise they bring penne).
They have an All Meat Pizza that’s perfect for this meat lover!
This has been a local spot for decades under various incarnations. The latest version has a lively bar, two fairly cramped dining rooms, and a covered outdoor deck. Take your choice on a level of noise. I believe they still allow smoking on the deck.
This is not fine dining, but certainly has a more competent and accommodating kitchen than most.
That said, I would happily recommend most anything on the appetizer menu. As for pasta, I’m not a fan of their tomato sauce (the marinara is better) and the Alfredo sauce can be soupy.
My latest visit was a first time visit for my companion. His sandwich was delicious, but the fries weren’t hot when served. We weren’t impressed by the garlic bread. And my spaghetti seemed kinda boring, although the meatballs were tasty.
I’ll stick with my favorites next time!
As usual, service was great!
On the other hand the Penne Al Forna was horrible. Just a big pile of penne. Bland red sauce. Also the wedding soup is just par.
The patron next to us raves about the Chicken Marsala – try that!
