Luis and Sofi Perez want to take you to Cuba. No packing. No plane required. No long journey. Just drive to 301 South Avenue West in Westfield, close your eyes, listen and inhale.
There is Cuban music, punching a loud, catchy beat. On the walls, there is Cuban art and scenes of Cuba. And you can smell the results of culinary work in a fine Cuban kitchen.
Welcome to 1958 Cuban Cuisine – a new addition to the Westfield dining scene.
When husband and wife, Luis and Sofi, speak of their new restaurant, the words “comfortable” and “happy” keep coming up. “It’s a joyful place to come and dine and experience the joyful years of Cuba,” Luis said. “It’s fine dining. It’s Cuban cuisine in a very relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
Warm, family-owned BYOB eatery with Cuban art offering modern & traditional dishes in homey digs.

Absolutely amazing Cuban restaurant! The food was outstanding—honestly better than many restaurants I’ve been to. Every dish was flavorful . The staff (Pablo and Luis ) were the best, attentive, and welcoming ( the music was great too) The owner truly made the experience special—so friendly and genuine, they made us feel right at home. We will definitely be coming back and bringing more people with us!. Highly recommend!

Very positive experience. On a slow day, a Sunday before Memorial Day I landed here for a very informal lunch. As we arrived the place was empty but from owner to chef to waitresses everyone was ready and they delivered!! A yummy and respecftul, original and classic menu with appetizers, dishes and desserts to be memorized and recalled.
Like I said, more positives overall. Some extra features like additional fees and overpriced local wines arw present but I’m willing to overlook to support this unique and special Cuban cuisine restaurant because they got personalized service and quality food compositions that score much higher in the scale for a balanced outcome. Keep up the goofld work, Luis!!
I will highly recommend and I will be back.

Love this BYO family style restaurant. Modest but comfortable interiors. Super warm, kind and attentive ownership and staff. Love the food and especially the dishes with oxtail! The portions are good value for the price and we can bring our own favorite bottle of wine! What’s not to love?!

I went to 1958 restaurant in Westfield NJ and found the food to be the best Cuban Restaurant in the area. I had visited the restaurant many years ago and was not impressed, another Cuban place, now it was a different experience. The appetizers are more fusion with modern twist. The rabo in the stuffed Avocado melted in my mouth. The Vaca frita was col just right crisp yet moist inside. Great Congris and maduros. To en churros and flan delicious. Plus the owner is a great host. The whole crew helpful and efficieny

I really enjoyed this place. Is nothing pretentious, what you see is what you get. I mean, they don’t try to fool you ore tending to be what they are not, is very honest. The food is great, very authentic and the service is amazing. If you have the luck to meet the owner a great talk is guaranteed. Is BYOB. The prices are very fair. You will have a great experience.

The atmosphere was just okay. The tables were cramped one on top of the other. Background music was okay. The service could have definitely been better. But the waiters were cramped as well. Make sure to BYOB.

This place was a delightful surprise!
We had excellent service from our waiter, John. Everything he recommended was absolute perfection.
I never try anything new and he recommended this oxtail sandwich. It was so tender and packed with flavor – it was unbelievable.
We will definitely be going again.
