I think this place is good if you are looking for Viet family style meal or just a lot of options on the menu. Overall, food is like standard or above standard. Canh chua (the sou) is normal, not as good as the flavor in Vietnam imo, and also I don’t like how they add celery.. Bò lúc lắc (shaking beef) is well-seasoned and very tender. Rau muống xào (stir fried morning glory) is delicious but a little overcooked because the texture is too soft. Cá kho (pottery pot fish) is yummy. Gỏi cuốn (summer roll) is normal but very affordable. Bánh ướt itself is good but the fish sauce is not; the meat comes with it is normal. Broken rice is good too except for the chả trứng (egg quiche). The mì xào giòn portion is huge, well seasoned, and noodle is actually crispy. The congee is a little disappointed. Dồi has way too much pepper, and barely has other organs in the congee. Curry is okay, doesnt have coconut milk like the usual Vietnamese style curry. Chim cút was good. Flan doesnt look pretty but is delicious as it is served w coffee not just caramel.

Nam Phuong is definitely a go too for traditional Vietnamese comfort food and many choices to pick from with their extensive menu. We opted for the family dinner of 4. This is the best options that includes appetizers, various options of fish, beef, soup and dessert. The clay pot fish and lotus salad is so good. Service is quick and friendly. They have so many waiters ready to refill your water and take away empty plate. They keep an eye on your rice too in case you need more. Only complaint is the restroom. It needs to be clean daily and ensure no foul smell. Warning, you will lose your appetite if you use the restroom then return to the tables. Overall good dining options around Washington Ave. Food is ok and nothing fancy. Price is fair.

This will ALWAYS be a staple amongst me and my family. We have been going to Nam Phuong for nearly 2 decades and this place is a comfort spot forever and always. Their pho, luc lak, summer rolls, and clay pot fish remain favorites. The staff, especially Phil, have always felt like we were seeing a family friend. We’ve celebrated birthdays, reunions and so much more here. We love Nam Phuong as a family ❤️

Came here for the family meal for two and swapped out the chicken ginger for the shaking beef (loc lac). Everything was pretty good but just a tad bit on the sweet side. Customer service was actually pretty good, however we were practically the only table there at 4pm.
The restaurant is cool but it’s old and needs a refresh and a deep cleaning- smells kind of musty tbh.

Nam Phuong Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine in South Philly is an absolute gem. The food is incredibly fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic—every dish tastes like it was made with care and tradition. From the perfectly balanced pho to the fragrant vermicelli bowls and crispy spring rolls, everything is consistently excellent.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is friendly without being rushed. You can tell this is a family-run spot that takes real pride in what they do. It’s the kind of place you crave after your first visit and keep coming back to.
If you’re in South Philadelphia and love authentic Vietnamese food, Nam Phuong is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Dined regularly at Nam Phuong for 15+ years. The extensive menu offers a variety of delicious Vietnamese food. There are plenty of options for Vietnamese food in Philly, but this preferred restaurant consistently offers superior quality, service, and value.

Worst Bo Kho I’ve ever had. Raw carrots, zero meat, nothing but huge pieces of pure FAT.

I have been eating here for 20 years. They never disappoint. I don’t care what I order, it is always absolutely amazing. The food and the service is impeccable. This is a gem in South Philadelphia. It is reasonably priced, but worth the price. The portions are really large.

The menu is a little overwhelming to the uninitiated. Luckily my daughter who was dining with me had been here before with her friends and they sampled a lot things. The Bo Bun Hue(spicy beef soup) was excellent. We also split a very good papaya salad with shrimp and pork. A very flavorful vinegar dressing and crunchy papaya was very refreshing. Will be back for sure, so many things to try in the menu!
