Great Mexican restaurant we found passing through Columbia, SC. Our meals came out quickly . We had the seafood appetizer which was awesome even though it had onions in it. Onions are not my favorite food. I was surprised on a Friday night at 6:45 pm that it was not busy. Mayb e because it was the day before Valentine’s Day plus there are soooo many restsurants around it. Huge menu selection!! I got the avacodo salad with the cilantro dressing on the side. I had never had cilantro dressing and discovered it was really good. Our waitress did a nice job! Quick seating. Very nicely decorated for Valentine’s Day!

This restaurant truly delivers an authentic taste of Mexico. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes and drinks, each capturing different flavors from across Mexico. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the country itself. The aesthetics are beautifully done, and the music perfectly complements the vibe. On top of that, the customer service was excellent and made the experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a genuine Mexican dining experience, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Excellent dinner tonight at Don Tequilas Mexican Grill. We had the Seafood Rolls as a starter, my entree was the Avocado Salad with Grilled Chicken. Both were superb! I haven’t seen Seafood Rolls at any other Mexican restaurant, these were delicious. The Avocado Salad with Grilled Chicken was excellent. The chicken was seasoned to perfection without being spicy or overnearing. Definitely recommend giving this place a try. This was our first visit.

We were sat immediately as the place was empty. Our waitress came over after a while and apologized for the wait as they celebrated a birthday a few tables away. We order our drinks, food and dessert all together as we had that much time to look at the menu.

First thing of was the fried ice cream. Dessert before dinner was a nice treat. Our food came out hot and delicious. The burrito tasted good. The rice had sliced boiled onion slices in it. Maybe that’s a thing here in SC but I’m not used to slices of onion in my rice. The rice was bland and I seasoned it up the salsa that came with the chips.

The waitress checked on us once through out the rest of the stay. She was tending to a larger group outside which left our table out of sight. One she had a minute, I was able to pay and she was quickly hurried in mus sentence back to the kitchen by another worker. My daughter and I looked at each other like… is she coming back? That was the weirdest thing to ever happen at a restaurant. She was literally in mid sentence and walked away as soon as the other waitress said something to her in passing. Maybe there was an emergency and everyone is OK.

Not sure if I’ll go back as I’ve had better food and customer service locally. If I do, I’ll update my review.

As a customer I value quality and taste of food and the value of the food for the price. The quality of the food was average, nothing to be upset about.

The taste of the food was mixed, the meat in the tacos was well seasoned, but the 12 dollar “table side” Guacamole we ordered has so much lime flavor (im assuming to preserve the avocados from turning) that it was absoluteltly inedible!!

I think they really fell short on the value for the amount of food… I declined to add cheese for 2 dollars to birria tacos that were already 15 dollars and instead got a side of rice for 3.75, but the portion size of rice was so SMALL! I also dont think the amount of cheese dip for the price was worth it either. Looking over the menu it seems like they like to nickle and dime their customers.

Our waitor was friendly, but despite us coming not during rush hour, we were waiting on drinks or entrees to come out

Overall we were recommended to come here for a celebration, I dont think we’ll be returning and going somewhere with better portions for the cost of food

I’ve been to Don Tequila’s many times. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. My favorite entree to order is the Don Tequila rice. The servings are generous, and the meat is tender and well-seasoned. I also like their frijoles charros. The servers are attentive and polite. Will be coming back.

Way impressed with freshly made table side guacamole and the ceviche was awesome. Fresh salsa too! The fajitas were good but the meat and chicken are pieces not strips. Flavors were good and service was spot on. Recommend a visit and prices fair.

I really wanted to love this place but there’s just something about the menu prices that is just a complete turn off for me.

I ordered the Birria tacos which shocked me with a $15 price tag, but then I was taken aback when he told me that to add cheese to the tacos was an additional $2. So now I’m at $17 for 3 tacos… that’s it?? 3 tacos. No rice. No beans. SEVENTEEN dollars for 3 tacos. Whew! So I’m thinking these better be the most amazing Birria tacos I’ve ever eaten. What a huge disappointment. They came out so soggy that I had to eat it with a knife and a fork. I opened it up and first question was WHERE IS MY $2 CHEESE? It was like a teaspoon of cheese. The flavor of the meat was good, but the soggy/oily tortilla was not. I ate the meat out of 2 of the tacos and that’s all I could take of that. Never, ever, ever again.

The salsa was fantastic. Chips were good. Sweet tea was great!

Hubby had the chimichanga, which came with rice OR beans. I mean, you pay $13 for 1 chimichanga and 1 side. Could they not just throw in rice AND beans? Not like it would really affect their bottom line. He enjoyed his dinner and said it was quite flavorful.

The restaurant was really nice inside and out. It was clean and staff was friendly. There were only about 4-5 other people dining at 730p on a Friday night which was super shocking because every restaurant we tried to go to was slammed; that’s how we ended up finding this restaurant.

Overall, good food but not worth the price in my opinion. $45 for dinner (for 2) when I can pay $25 down the street for equally good Mexican food without this high price tag.

If you don’t mind being nickel and dimed for dinner, definitely try it out…but do yourself a favor and steer clear of the Birria at this location. Leaving tonight, my only thought was what I could’ve better spent that $17 on….
