Casual, fast-food style chain restaurant near downtown Yorba Linda serving hot chicken sandwiches, strips, wings, wraps, and a handful of sides. Looks like they also have an additional bar menu if you dine-in. They have several levels of heat (spiciness) to choose from as well as vegetarian options made of cauliflower!

They offer indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar and rooftop area! They’re located in an obscured spot though – next to the parking garage for the plaza and behind Bristol Farms.

All that to say, I’m not a fan. Taste and portions are acceptable but service is slow and pricing is high.

In Short, this place is fantastic and I don’t why anyone would rate it less than 5 stars.

With a few more details,
I have been there a few times now and it’s always been a fantastic experience. The downstairs is nice and has a bar and the patio upstairs is fantastic especially that both levels have massive screens to watch sporting events AND alcoholic beverages. Very clean place. Close to the movie theater and Yorba Linda town center so you can grub here then watch a movie right next door.
Service has been great. Staff is very friendly.
Reasonably priced for a nice atmosphere.
The food has been delicious on every occasion. Chicken strips very juicy and chunky unlike some other chicken places. Original is not that spicy but has a fantastic flavor so if you want more heat make sure to order something hotter than the original. Also, the fries are fantastic. Try them cooked well done. Crunchy outside yummy inside.
Definitely recommended spot right off imperial highway and YL towncenter.

The food is good, no doubt, but they need to work on their efficiency. I’m not sure what was happening, but the staff looked confused whenever an order came out and they couldn’t figure out which order it belonged to. We watched the bartender walk back and forth, looking lost trying to find things to make drinks. And our food took a while to come even though it wasn’t busy. The person who brought our food, who looked like the manager, apologized for the long wait.

I hope they get a good system going because their food is good. The CHICKEN SANDWICH was crispy, with great flavor, juicy, and spicy! CHICKEN WINGS were very good, too, esp dipped in Clyde’s sauce. MAC AND and CHEESE was creamy and cheesy!

The drinks could be better, though. We are willing to spend more money on drinks but they need to be great! You could barely taste the alcohol in their MARGARITA and their MAI TAI taste like it’s missing something. I let the bartender know, and he fixed the Margarita by adding more alcohol in it, which we appreciated.

I don’t think we will dine in again, but I’ll definitely get their food to go.

UPDATE (8/23):
Clyde’s has improved their quality of food and service. The buns tasted great, and they weren’t dry. The staff is still very friendly, and they greet you with “Welcome to Clyde’s!” as you enter. I enjoy the store’s upbeat and modern vibe, while keeping the music volume low. Also, the service was quicker. Keep it up, Clyde’s. I’m still waiting on the halal chicken, though!

Original review:
This store just opened in Yorba Linda. I love hot chicken, and I’ve tried places like Dave’s and Bred’s Hot Chicken. I went to the grand opening on August 3rd, and the restaurant itself was beautiful, in terms of architectural design. The staff had high energy, and were very excited to serve the first customers, which I loved. However, the quality of food needs improvement. Many hot chicken places serve halal chicken, and unfortunately Clyde’s doesn’t. Besides this, the brioche buns tasted kind of dry – like biscuits. Their waffle fries were good, however. Overall, this place has a lot of potential to become a popular spot in Yorba Linda.

The service, amazing, and everyone is so friendly! Brand new spot in Yorba Linda with a whole new concept, fast food + full service + full bar + fine dining (coming soon I’m told). Drinks are amazing, ambiance is casual cool, and the food is crazy good. They just launched an exclusive bar menu and it all sounds fantastic. My husband and I are super excited to have something like this just down the street. Can’t wait to try the rooftop! Brettley, Ari, and Alida are fabulous at the bar. Worth the stop in for sure… and they have a drive thru for quick dinner nights.

What an odd experience. We usually go to the other Clyde’s but placed a pick up order here. Greeted by “yeah” from the cashier girl, followed by “over there” when asked for the order we placed. Food was horrendous. We’re used to the other Clyde’s which is good. This food was terrible. The waffle fries were absolutely inedible. They were overcooked and under portions. We couldn’t get through one of them. The chicken was not properly seasoned, it had no flavor, and it was plated on the oldest, driest bread I’ve ever seen, second only to how old and dry the waffle fries were. All in all – I hope the franchise operator takes better care to align these locations.

First time trying this place and I have to say I was pretty impressed. Got the original chicken sandwich and the part I like is you can choose your spice level. I got the original spice sauce (level 2) and it was pretty mild so if you like spicy I would start with at least level 3. Chicken was juicy and the fries were crispy. They have a bar inside as well so if you want to grab a cold beer with your meal definitely check it out. The whole structure was pretty cool, and although it wasn’t opened yet when I went they will have a roof top sitting area and drive thru eventually as well. I’ll definitely be back with the family for some more.

I got the Clyde’s original chicken sandwich with potato salad. The “hot as cluck” spice level isn’t overly spicy and would suggest if you like spicy chicken. The bun was a tad bit dry, maybe it was just a day too old. The potato salad was delicious and was the perfect side to go with hot chicken. They have a full open air bar as well as an upstairs patio. I saw that they also have a happy hour as well.

It’s a really cool store, But it’s bit sad that they are busy. I would like to give this wonderful space 5 stars in the hope that it will do well. It would have been better if a more systematic system and good, quick service had been implemented from the beginning. I like the small burgers and waffle fries here.

Food is good. Customer service is horrible. Insane wait time in drive thru. Only car in the drive thru, told to wait to order, waited for 15 minutes and decided to drive through and circle back around, told to wait to order again, waited 10 more minutes and then just left. Go to the one in Placentia instead.
