On a Midwest scale I would say slightly below average but on a local scale within Iowa City itself probably considered pretty good by most.
The food portions we’re slightly smaller then I would have hoped. Overall I would say the price does reflect the quality of the food.
Menu items pictured in the post that we tried include the gyro, and the sample platter which consisted of hummus, falafel, pita, and roasted chicken with veggies. See attached pictures and video.
The staff was super friendly and super helpful. Our weight was much longer than I would have hoped. Almost 30 minutes. Come to find out our order was given to a different table so the server brought out a punch card for a free meal next time we stop in. It’s a very small establishment but overall good environment.
The restrooms were as clean as you would expect and parking is a little bit difficult to come by but there’s a lot of side roads to park on.

Good food and great service. Best to order take out. Seating is uncomfortable and inconviently arranged. Rear dining room is about 90% of its seating area and temp was at about 34 degrees F back there on a on a 15 degree day.

My favorite restaurant in Iowa City. Not the cheapest food around, but it’s truly quality. The falafel and the hummus are some of the best I’ve had. I usually get the half gyro (which is plenty) along with chips and hummus. But the chicken shawarma is also very good. It’s pretty small inside, but there’s lots of Outdoor seating around if it’s nice out. You won’t be disappointed!

This is a small restaurant in downtown Iowa city. Parking might be a bit hard to find. Coming to the food: 1. The falafel was excellent- crunchy, soft and perfect taste. The hummus complimented it very well. The Baba Ganoush (5/5) was smoky and creamy. I would definitely order it. The fires were amazing too. I’m not a big fan of Baklava but it was very very good here. The size and taste of Turkish coffee was a tad bit of a disappointment. But overall a great place. The staff were very friendly and polite. The seating indoor was limited but there was lot of seating outdoor.

After moving to Des Moines I noticed their hummus for sale in tubs at a local grocery store. It was some of the best hummus I ever had. I looked up online and saw they had a restaurant in Iowa city and I knew I had to visit. I ordered their half falafel sandwich and it was some of the best falafel I’ve had and I’ve had them all over America. the sandwich was incredible. I’m sorry I can’t add a picture but the sandwich didn’t really last very long. Funky college town atmosphere. Exceptional staff. highly recommended!

We ordered the sultan’s combo with falafel balls, tabooleh, couscous, and humus. All items had a lot of garlic, which was fine with me.
The falafel balls was freshly made and crispy.
The tabooleh was made in house and full of flavor.
The couscous was spicy with a lot of carrots.
The humus was very good.
They don’t seem to have tahini sauce.
The pita was just bread in the shape of a pita.
Prices are a little on the high side.

Great place for Mediterranean cuisines in Iowa City. We had a grill platter which came with two grill items (chosen from four different options) and a falafel sandwich. We took beef kafta for both of our grill items and french fries along with baba ganoush as sides. They gave us a free falafel with that. The taste of beef kafta was really good specially with the green chilli paste. Falafels were very crispy outside and soft inside with great flavor. I think one of the best Falafels I have ever had. The baba ganoush was little tangy and bitter in taste with a very smoky flavour. In combination the flavour was very delicious and super addictive. We liked all the food very much.

Oasis Falafel it’s a fantastic place! Get the lamb pita if you’re a meat eater. Their falafel is fantastic as well. I like to order in advance over the phone because the line can get pretty long at lunch time, but they sure can crank it out. I wish they’d open one in Richmond VA, so I didn’t have to drive 16 hours for their Pita Chips!
