The restaurant was out of guac, lettuce and fajita veggies. They just made the order without them, and the staff forgot to mention that a bunch of ingredients were not included when they handed me the bag.
Also forgot the chicken in one of our three bowls, every flavor of lemonade was out in their soda fountain machines, and most of the soda taps just had fizzy water.
Must have come on a day when a couple of people didn’t show up to work, because the staff there were working hard but unable to keep up with all the issues.
I walked in and was not greeted. At least a ” Hello”, “What would you like this evening?” Something. I’m starting at the first person of contact for this location so I started the conversation b/c he was not. I tell him I want a bowl. He grabs a bowl and looks up at me. I then tell him I wanted the cilantro rice. He scoops the rice in the bowl, then we get to the beans. He looks up at me again. I then tell him I’d like the Pintos. He scoops the Pintos in my bowl. Next comes the meat choices, which I then asked ” Which is which?” I ask him b/c I want to hear him talk. He proceeds to tell me the meat choices but he talks very low. I tilt my head towards the sneeze guard to indicate that I am having difficulty hearing him and I tell him I cannot hear him. His voice level doesn’t change. My bowl goes to the next worker, a young lady who again does not speak. I say aloud ” Does anyone on this line speak?” I hear her chuckle. At this time a lady is ordering and I actually hear the first guy talk to her. Now im ticked off. I asked the young lady for Pico and some hot salsa. After she puts a drizzle of the hot salsa on ( I didn’t want alot ), I tell her some cheese, and lettuce. While she’s doing that, im listening to the manager and the guy at the register talk about his bus route to work. When the lid is placed on my bowl, I slide to the end of the line and FINALLY the young man describing his bus route asked me if I wanted a drink( I CAN HEAR HIM ) I tell him” No”, he then asks me if I wanted chips/ salsa ( I HEARD THAT TOO) I tell him “No”. As I tapping my card on the card reader, I asked the manager, ” Do your employees have a problem talking to customers?
And do you know what his answer was?
“It depends on the day”. I was outdone. Then I got a ” Have a good evening Sir, enjoy your meal”. Right.
I walked across Fountain Square heated! The more I clenched that Chipotle bag, the angrier I got. When I got close to home, I walked past a Salvation Army on Central Pkwy and I guy was sitting in front of the door wrapped in a blanket. I asked him if he would like some Chipotle. I told him what was in the bowl, my hands never touched it, and the experience left me not hungry anymore. He accepted the bag and I went home.
Somebody was fed last evening. That was good.
Back to the phrase on my receipt, ” Build Your Own Happiness:” What happiness could I have built with that experience? I understand Life, I understand Customer Service, I understand the Service industry being a former Bartender. That’s the answer you give a customer. Okay.
FOLLOW UP: Yep. I followed the link that you supplied and got blown off. Waste of time. Stay away from this location and since corporate blows stuff off that is this serious, I will be finding other establishments besides Chipotle.
