VKI JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE

Wow! A new favorite restaurant, right here in Lake Sumter Landing, close to our house. My wife and I stopped in at lunchtime for a bite to eat. I am certainly glad we made the choice to stop here, the greeter was very pleasant, and explained the three concepts of eating at his restaurant: Sitting at the Sushi Bar, Sitting at a hibachi table with a chef who cooks your meal in front of you, and conventional restaurant service at a table. We opted for conventional restaurant service, and were shown to our table. The restaurant had quite a clientele for lunch, and as I looked around, I noticed everybody was enjoying the experience. Our waitress immediately took our order for drinks and brought them to the table. After a considerable amount of looking through the menu, where everything looks good, I chose a lunch of hibachi grilled steak and vegetables with fried rice. My wife chose the lunch portion of Tempura Shrimp and Vegetables. Each of our meals was served with miso soup and house salad with carrot ginger dressing. I enjoyed my hot tea with the clear soup and salad, taking in the quiet of the restaurant. Thereafter our meals arrived and I was impressed by the Tempura plate: Every piece fully battered, yet still crisp and light. I tried a bite of my wife’s shrimp, sweet potato, and squash Tempura: each was very nice in taste, texture, and nice and warm. For my Habachi grilled steak with vegetables, the steak was fully flavored, warm and juicy. The grilled vegetables were a pleasure to eat, and the fried rice good, but present In such quantity I could not finish it all. All this food, service, and atmosphere for a little over $20 a person: quite the bargain in today’s market. (As Arnold Schwarzenegger said: I’ll be back.)

This was a fun experience.
We’ve been to a lot of these hibachi “cook in front of us” kinda places.
Our chef hardly spoke at all
So it was almost silent entertainment
lol
He didn’t do the flaming onion tower nor the catching things in his hat trick.
He food spin his chef cooking told and that was kinda it
The food was very good, though he used a ton of oil.
Good was cooked well
Just no real slow at all

The hibachi grill is not good at all an no fun. The food is good but no show from the chefs. If you go for the hibachi grill don’t waist you time not worth it. Service was not good at all. Servers not friendly an acted like they were too busy for us. The servers needed to hurry and get us out of there. Nothing like many other places I have been. Chefs did nothing but cook as fast as they can to get you out of there. Been twice and Same each time. Sakura is 100 times better. Last trip to this place for the hibachi grill.

I’ve been here several times never really remembered anything awesome about it. Recently the wife suggested this place, and I was like, okay, and then we received the angriest waitress. 0 courtesies, is it so hard to smile? Introduce yourself, and
, a little bit of pleasantries?we ordered a couple of sushi rolls, and when they came out, it looked like tiny tiniest thing. Ref pic. We noticed the prices gone up but decided to just take the hit. The kids dinner plater was $16. Total with tip $82

Order here a lot. White tuna upsets my stomach. Ordered the sushi and sashimi combo with no white tuna. First time still had white tuna in order. Second time had octopus. I now know why octopus is not generally sashimi. It was so tough as to be inedible. Love VKi. Hope they do better.

Came in yesterday for a quick bite to see if she. And I was pleasantly surprised and all my travels it was one of the few places that had really fresh delicious sushi. The rice to fish ratio was absolutely perfect. Not too thick not too thin just right there’s no fishiness. The staff was friendly and professional. And the meal came out quickly I did not have the hibachi or anything like that so I cannot post on that one. But if you love sushi I highly recommend this place.

Saigon Fusion Mt Dora is awesome compared to this. I am spoiled with the quality of taste there. The soup same ingredients but just better tasting at Saigon Fusion. To share with my little daughter I was told $10 for an empty plate. So I ordered a side of noodles instead

The service was horrible. The waitress were unfriendly and kept rushing us to order. We had a group of 80 people and they would not wait until our entire group arrived. The cook did not enter act with our group and really never said a thing while cooking. Normally at Japanese steak houses the cook is funny but he didn’t do much of anything. Never eat there again.
