At our Kansas City, MO location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Food was great! I order 2 piece fish, jalapeño poppers and funnel cake sticks. I waited for fresh fish but other than the food was hot and tasted good. The employee that took my order was friendly and professional. The drive thru was shut down so I had to go inside to order, which is fine for me, it was not that much of a inconvenience to me. Inside of the restaurant needs help. You can only carry out also. They only had seats, no tables, to wait for your order, again not that much of a problem for me as long as the food was good which is the main reason for being there but it thought I would mention it for others to know.

I was impressed. They were having some staffing issues and the orders were coming from all different directions: Carryout, dine in, drive through, and delivery. They maintained their baring. I really didn’t have to wait long. They got it done! Good for them. You can truly tell they are passionate about their jobs.

Just went to Captain D’s on 63rd and rooster. Went thru drive-thru but no pictures of food no prices instead I found a sign that said come in side. So I parked and went to the door and it was locked with nobody anywhere to be found but there were to cars parked there. This was at 8:30 pm makes no sense

Kim, the lady that took our order was phenomenal. She let us know in detail what they offered and gave us options to choose. I liked her head wear it complimented the environment. She was clean and multitasked. She told us how long our food was going to take. She delivered our food to the table. I haven’t been to a restaurant, let alone fast food, where my mouth burned on how hot the food was. Most restaurants food is warm. The food was very fresh and the hush puppies were the best. The restaurant and floors clean. The colors very refreshing with the colored frames. We’ll be back. Thanks

When they remodeled I had hope it would get better. Have been back a couple time since, no luck. Tonight, against my own judgement I tried again. Staff was rude and slow. I ordered chicken and fish. Got shrimp and crab. She’ll fish will kill me. Got home, not worth taking it back. That place is a train wreck.

Ordered a kid’s meal and the captain’s appetizer. They seemed extremely short staffed, and after a very long wait of the two employees trying to figure out which order was what, we were handed a bag. When we got home we realized it wasn’t our order at all, but an actual meal with funnel cake sticks. The quality of the food was fine but I’m not sure what happened after they both confirmed which was our order, after I restated what we had ordered and still were handed the wrong order.

Made a to go order on the app at 9:28PM. It said the order would be ready at 9:48. Arrived at 9:45. No one was answering the speaker. Pulled up to the window. I could see someone inside but they were trying to avoid being seen & never came to the window. Waited until 9:53 before leaving. I need my money back.

Update I reached out to online & STILL haven’t heard back! I want my money back please!

I decided to stop here because it’s New. To my surprise I was challenged in drive-thru over order. Is she arguing over a fish and fries I ordered and her remarks were “what’s the side” I replied Fish and Fries combo please…her remarks ” You could have wanted something other than fries”….so I do walk in. To my surprise this was the Mgr..talking to me like this. I calmly ordered a drink and got my receipt and left.
Staff had hoodies on drinks sitting on fry machine….This store needs a REAL MANAGER…@3:00. I can’t believe anyone who owns this place would allow the street look in this store…..I will sneak back and do another review……until you fix this store.

Employees are obviously unhappy as comments could be heard through an unmuted mic. Service wasn’t bad, fish was average, and order wasn’t what was ordered, which I think was more due to poor speakers. The meal my son got had barely anything in it, shrimp and fries, not worth $9, so I had to share my meal with him. I was so excited to find a Captain D’s still exists, but sadly disappointed (more by the food itself, not the employees). This being said, maybe try to do something to improve your staff morale. I honestly felt bad for them and what I was hearing.

I’ve never seen a fast food place where the employees make it so obvious they don’t care about you. It feels like going to one of those restaurants where they are mean to you on purpose as part of a bit. If I order something that isn’t already off the fryer and ready to serve they will just say “nah we don’t have any” but I know they aren’t running out of fish every day before 6:30pm…
