In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. I absolutely loved the food and big portions! The servers was great, and it had a little store, reminded me of like a Cracker Barrell of the West. But much better! The food was hot, fresh, and served quickly for the busyness of the place. My 75 year old dad wanted to eat there everyday! Beautifully decorated!

Thanksgiving dinner was $27, but very average. Pie and beans were bad, but everything else was serviceable. Probably not back next year.
Got the Bears choice breakfast with some very good sweet cream pancakes. Add the crunchy bacon and scrambled eggs and it was a filling meal. Get it for free with rewards membership.

What a delicious, local restaurant with every imaginable breakfast item in large portions. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting our server, Mia. The local patrons also noticed and welcomed us. We love Scottsdale and when coming annually always plan to make a stop at the Black Bear Cafe. Can’t wait to try the desserts in the future.

One of my favorite restaurants. I first found them in Vegas. They started on California and have numerous locations throughout the states. They just opened one in Morris Illinois this year. The food is delicious and portions plentiful. It is a bear themed atmosphere (hence the name) that is comfortable and pleasant. You will love all the beats carved into wood poles, benches and free standing sculptures with plenty of bear photos and art displayed on the walls. I highly recommend this restaurant chain.

Great place. Thought we were walking into a 1-off restaurant, but found out this is an amazing chain of restaurants that offers honestly priced food options and huge portions. Breakfast all day as well!

Very nice restaurant chain with a small town feel. I was with a group of 7, and one of us has been a frequenter of this location. Upon entering, the waitress recognized her regular customer and greeting her by name. The waitress, Erica, introduced herself and said it was time for her to clock out, but she said she would stay to wait on us.
The menu is a super cute newspaper-style format. Come to find out, there are many locations, which are listed in the margins.
Anyway, Erica took our orders and all drinks and food were prompt, and it would be an understatement to say that the food was large portions. It’s like they are serving food for a bear!
Our group enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections, with orders from omelets, to buffalo chicken strips, to burgers, to macaroni & cheese. In truth, the food was a little bland, and could stand a little more seasoning. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars. Oh, and the takeout dessert boxes are super cute!
Overall, the service and the small town diner atmosphere was amazing!

Reminds me of the diners that I used to patronize back East. Breakfast was good, as was the coffee. I love great customer service, and this establishment knocked it out the park! I will be back.
