We enjoyed our meal there and didn’t experience bad services at all as previous reviewed. This is a family friendly restaurant especially for those who doesn’t digest raw fish, delicious cooked seafood plates are also available on the menu. It’s not a typical Japanese restaurant, it does serve authentic staple Japanese food but also international/fusion dishes to entertain! The decor is beautiful and grand in red theme and the venue has an amazing private room for events.
Street parking is easy during weekend lunch time when we visited.

I recently dined at the Blue Akai for lunch. It’s a spacious venue with cool artwork. The dual-concept menu with Tex-Mex and Asian cuisines is well-suited to my tastes. The chicken quesadilla and sushi were both very tasty.
The staff was friendly and efficient, and the owners were particularly kind. I look forward to diving into their cocktails and trying out sister restaurant “Akai” in Westfield.

We usually come here for mexican food but the cool part is you can sit on either side and order from either menu. First time having their sushi and man was it good. And portions did not disappoint. I got the packman and halloween roll, was amazing, unfortunately i was so full I couldn’t finish it. No worries plenty to take home. Coconut pineapple margharita was amazing and sweet, but a little heavy on the alcohol if you’re into that it’s a plus. Price also is unbeatable. Owner – Andy is there to make sure service and experience is on point.

I recently dined at this Japanese-Mexican fusion restaurant and had an amazing experience! The pork gyoza were crispy and flavorful, while the chimichangas paired perfectly with delicious beans. The Mexican corn was a delightful twist, and our drinks—a pineapple margarita with tajin rim and a lychee martini—were refreshing and tasty. We finished with the best lava cake I’ve ever had! Our waiter was amazing and really cool, adding to the overall vibe. The ambiance was lively, especially with the Celtics vs. Knicks game on. Highly recommend this unique spot!

At first, I was a little skeptical. When seeing a fusion, it can be challenging. But I have to admit.. Jefferson being our waiter had made our experience very easy and most importantly attentive. Food was great, I had low expectations but it proved me wrong for sure. Andy, had made sure to take care of us and most importantly make sure we felt welcomed. My wife and I will definitely be back!

Blue Akai has some really awesome options for a fusion restaurant. The menus are huge – I had the Akai tacos (pork buns) and the Knicks rolls. The flavors of both were absolutely incredible. My only knock is that the service wasn’t very attentive on a less busy night (had to ask for more water and flag the waiter down for another drink, by the time it came out I finished the roll). Plenty of parking around which makes it very convenient

Nice place to eat outside on a cool night. You’ll get some of these loud annoying cars blasting music sometimes but it’s on a main street so it’s to be expected. If you don’t want that then eat inside.
The food was good, nothing special. My fish tacos were good but I’ve had better elsewhere closer to me.
The waitress was really nice and took care of us whenever we needed something.
I did notice some of the 2 person tables outside were really wobbly so that can be annoying.
If I’m in the area I might give it another try but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. Not saying it was horrible just that I can get similar to better food closer to me.

So glad I didn’t let the 4.2 star rating deter me from checking Blue Akai in Englewood out. I’ve been here 3 times this month, brought others with me and all enjoyed. I love the concept, half Mexican half Japanese where you can order from both menus regardless of which side you’re seated in. Love that they have “not raw” sushi options on the Japanese menu and the chicken empanadas on the Mexican menu had a unique, creamy filling that was delicious! Complimentary chips and salsa, great service, full bar and tvs to catch the games, so on & so forth. I have no complaints!

Stopped in for the end of happy hour before a show at BPAC. Specifically impressed with the refried beans: must be house made, the texture including full beans was amazing. A little more mole sauce on the enchiladas would have been nice – I’m sure if we asked, it would appear. Meal prep was fast and accurate. Servers we plentiful.

So many people stopped to ask me what I had and if it came from this place although I was sitting right outside the establishment at their outdoor seating…my food looked and smelled that good. It tastes great also. It was my first time there, but I’ll be back to try other dishes for sure!
