Went here for lunch on a Sunday during the Farmers Market and its easy to see why it was packed.
Service – Bar staff was friendly and personable even at a busy time. Food, Drink, and Bill came pretty quick and it was extremely affordable compared to other options in the neighborhood.
Food – Menu is diner food, however it is excellent. I got a basic burger and fries which was very tasty and sometimes you just need simple but well done.
Atmosphere – Inside is old, antique, and awesome. They had a VHS copy of Mac and Me on the TV and jazz playing. T

This place was built during the Old Testament or something (1904). Awesome. I came here with my sister and cousin. I recommend. We ordered a million sides and dishes, it wasn’t even an outrageous price. Our waitress was very nice.

FOOD: NOTHING bad to say about it. I reccomend the bagel sandwich (as shown in the photos)! I would order everything on the menu. Come here!!

First and foremost, know that Hattie’s Hat is a classic diner and thus this review is contextualized to that. If you’re looking for fine dining, this ain’t the spot for you. If you’re looking for perfect diner food, decor, and incredibly friendly service—this is the spot for you.

The service is always friendly and quick when we visit. No complaints.

The atmosphere is classic in every sense of the word. We particularly enjoy going during the holidays when the tinsel is shining and the mugs see extra cute.

Portions are generous and tasty. HIGHLY recommend getting their Benedict from the all day menu, the sauce is zingy and generously poured. Only place in all of Seattle I don’t have to order a side, though I do recommend one for any of their potato dishes.

10/10. Will return again and again. Long live Hattie’s.

A friend and his son came to visit Seattle and asked me to lunch. They also said I should pick the place…ummm thanks. My brain was scrambled so I grabbed my phone and searched for “old restaurants in Ballard” and at the top of this list was Hattie’s Hat. Established in 1904 as the Old Home Saloon it became a restaurant in the 1930s – 1940s. It serves breakfast and lunch throughout the day and dinner in the evening. I had the challah French toast, which was very good! The service and atmosphere were fantastic.

Classic long standing neighborhood icon still serving up great food and drinks. Our bartender was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our first meal in Ballard here. Came back later for the bread pudding to go!

One of my favorite food stops in ballard and one of the few that is open late! Breakfast is absolutely delicious and plenty of options for everyone. Late night menu has perfect comfort food and a nice range of drinks. All the staff is lovely but Brandon is a gem!

Great brunch food. Their chai alcoholic brunch drink was great! They also do really good mimosas too. My favorite part of the meal was the selection of hot sauces they had available at the table. They ranged from habanero to piri piri, awesome pairing with breakfast foods.

We stopped here for brunch. One of our friends said hatch brown was good. It looked okay. My friend ordered extra crispy, you might want to consider ordering extra crispy. I just got biscuits with gravy, it was biscuit with soup. It was not bad but it was not good. It did not have a lot of sausage bits. My other friend ordered chicken and waffle. Chicken was not bone in, it is not your what you would think when you order chicken and waffle. Service was good but we did have to asked for water and refilled on coffee. Street parking , we parked at a lot that cause $5 per hour.

Happy I was able to have a bar top experience at the iconic Hattie’s Hat Restaurant. I learned from Kayla, the friendly bartender that the building was open in 1904. The artwork within the bar totally reflects this which gives the atmosphere a walk back in time type of vibe!
