I’m mostly disappointed that the amount of food that’s served for the amount of money you spend is disproportionate! The fries appear to have been prepared and refried… paying $18, for 6 TINY pieces of fish and tiny fries is definitely WRONG!
So while I try to patronize small and black owned businesses, I’m going to leave this one alone! Sure, they have been in this location for YEARS… and their service was NOT always like this, now I see this only getting worse… they were generous with their serving sizes… now not so much… and what’s worse is, they didn’t offer to give me a bit more to satisfy my complaint… they instead doubled down on the idea that they weigh everything before it’s served…
So duly noted and I won’t show my face in the place going forward !

We came up there and made a large order several dinners of fish with fries. When we got the order, none of the fries were done. I called up there to speak to somebody about it. The lady who answered the phone stated she was just a cashier, and there was nothing she could do about it, and the manager was not available. When she turned around to speak to the cooks, you could hear them back there yelling and cussing, and she stated the woman who was up here with the large order wants free fries. I informed her I do not want free fries. I just want the fries for the orders replaced because they were not done all the way. She then informed me that I needed to come up there and talk to the cooks myself and hung the phone up on me. I attempted to call back up there several times with no answer. She was very rude unprofessional. The cooks were rude and unprofessional. We spent a large amount of money with them and I feel like replacing the fries was the least they could do.

I won’t lie. The food is good. The service is hard every time you go in there whoever the cashier is has a bad attitude on top of that. Try to call to order food. They keep taking the phone off the hook, sitting it down not seeing anything and all you can hear them doing is cussing in the background and no one wants answer the phone to talk to you. The service is bad. I think they need to restart over.

I wasn’t even going to post this but the initial response that I got when I called was just not called for. I called to inform them that my fish was raw and as soon as I told her the first thing out her mouth was ( I’m not the cook I’m just the cashier) no apology no oh let me make this right. It was just to take them blame off of herself. I responded and told her I know that you not the cook I was just calling to let you all know so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Then she offered to replace my meal. I kindly declined and let her know that I wasn’t calling to get free food or my money back and I definitely will never return. That is poor customer service skills and it is sad.. Just take accountability for you alls mistakes. Regardless of who cooked it

The older lady is a little rude. But the food was fresh. The order was correct and it didn’t take long. Food was delicious I got the 1lb orange roughy No 3 for $16.09 and 2 orders of the 1lbs fresh shrimp with corn for $10.49

I do so much ranting and raving about this place “fish city” and they really disappointed me today and this ain’t the first time, I ordered the whole catfish dinner, it took forever and was still raw and gummy. I hate when I can tell the chefs weren’t in the mood to cook and instead of closing they opened up anyways. The energy was there was just “not in the mood” today and it definitely taste like it. Waste of $25, the lemon cake was good and the potatoe salad was okay

The service and quality of this spot has been declining for the last couple of years. I ordered a #3 catfish fillet with okra. When I got home this is what I got. The food was refried. Also they don’t answer the phone, the line is always busy.

A true South KC landmark — this spot is hands down my favorite fish place in all of Kansas City. I always get the bossa with red beans and rice, green beans, corn on the cob, sweet potato pie, greens, and cornbread — plus extra hot sauce and tartar sauce (a must!). Every bite hits just right — gas ⛽️⛽️⛽️⛽️
