A few year ago I ordered a fish sandwich and the piece of fish was tiny. It did not even come close to fitting the bun. It barely covered the middle. After that I stopped going.
With it being Lent I decided to give it another try today. Same problem. I got home, opened it up, and could not believe it. The fish look more like a fish stick than a filet. It was small and lost in a big bun. (Was also missing the tarter sauce)
I drove back and said something. I was told they are weighed. If that is the case then the portion is the problem. Use a bigger piece of fish and charge more or put it on a smaller roll. What is being served now is not worth it.
It is disappointing to see a place I used to go to all the time put out food like this.
Peabody
This place hasn’t missed a beat. I don’t care what anyone says.
Side of scallops
Fake chicken fingers
Hand battered onion rings
Foot long
Chocolate shake that always gives you instant brain freeze and makes your gut jiggle for months
I split this with my father. Place is just as good as it was 35 years ago.
The tartar sauce was absolutely disgusting to me. It tasted like onion and mayo. There was no tang to it at all. They also did not have cocktail sauce, which I find odd at a seafood place.
The ketchup was clearly watered down as well.
The service was VERY friendly and the place was clean. I’m not sure if I would go there again for seafood, but I wouldn’t mind trying the pastrami.
The wait time was reasonable and the staff were friendly and patient. There is seating inside and plenty of parking. The place looked clean already but even so there was someone walking around cleaning the empty tables while we were there. Their bathroom was also clean. I would definitely recommend this place. It’s worth the drive, money and the time.
Update: someone wiped the tables
Pro:
Some of the seafood was good
The service wasn’t bad.
Con:
Almost every single table was dirty with food stains, crumbs, or crumpled up napkins.
The prices compared to the portion and quality was crazy. Pictured is a “super chicken” listed at around 7$. It was a frozen chicken patty with mayo and some wimpy scraps of lettuce.
The Super Roast Beef was $9.50 for a small portion that was very very bland.
The fries were also seemingly a little freezer burnt.
There are SO many better options but with bigger portions, better prices, and better quality. Go to Kelly’s or Supreme Roast Beef if you want food that won’t break the bank make you feel gross.
